Before that, she was an advocate at a couple of non-profits advocating for workers' rights, particularly those related to sex discrimination and family responsibilities. Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence Training for Law Students and Legal Professionals
Law is a varied, powerful, and highly rewarding profession. The pressures of the profession, however, as well as a lack of clarity about what is important in life, can derail and confuse young lawyers and keep them from finding their best life in the law. Mindfulness and emotional intelligence training in law school (especially in the first year) can help law students and lawyers improve focus, get more work done in less time, improve interpersonal skills, and seek and find meaningful and fulfilling work. Professor Nathalie Martin's new book, Lawyering from the Inside Out: Learning Professional Identity Formation through Mindfulness and Emotional Intelligence (forthcoming, Cambridge University Press), is designed to help law students and lawyers of all experience levels find a sustainable and meaningful life in the law. Prof. Martin's talk will draw from her insights in the book about how lawyers can find peace, focus, meaning, and happiness over a lifetime of practicing law. Room 125, 2:30 p.m.
CSO: Practice Area Expo for 1Ls

Make sure to bring your business cards, your student ID to check in, and your government ID if you plan to have a drink. Indiana Memorial Union Solarium, 6 to 8 p.m.

Food will be provided and all attendees will be entered in a raffle. Also, three of our beloved professors will serve as judges and prizes will be awarded to participants who place. For more information, contact us at maurer@nblsa.org. If you wish to support BLSA's Breast Cancer Awareness initiative, you may also donate while purchasing your Gong Show ticket. Documentary Screening: The Uncondemned
The Uncondemned is a riveting documentary about an underdog group of lawyers and activists who defied the odds to do what had never been done: prosecute rape as an international war crime. In 1997, the young men and women at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) found themselves inexplicably in charge of the first case of genocide in history, which included rape in the charges. Three heroic women would overcome their fears and shame to speak for all those who could not. Secret memos, witness assassinations, setbacks and barriers. The Uncondemned captures the untold, remarkable story that changed the course of international judicial history. Lisa Pruitt, who served as gender consultant for the ICTR, will be present for discussion and Q&A following the screening. Learn more about the film. Sponsored by the Milt and Judi Stewart Center on the Global Legal Profession and the International Law Society. Moot Court Room, 4 p.m.
Faculty News
Prof. Sarah Jane Hughes recently concluded Uniform Regulation of Virtual-Currency Businesses Act apparently has earned her a place on the roster of candidate for "Most Influential People in the Blockchain Universe," sponsored by CoinDesk, a trade paper. Her sub-category is Law and Public Policy. One of the other nominees (creepy as it is) is Vladimir Putin.
