This Week in the Law School
1Ls: Get the inside scoop on summer jobs from 2Ls today at lunch. Learn how to dress from the always dapper Don Gjerdingen Tuesday. Learn what black tie means so you can steal the show at the ball next month (tickets on sale now!). The PILF bowling tournament rolls into the IMU Thursday. We'll spare you the details. Business Law Society 1L Job Search Panel
All 1Ls are invited to a panel of 2L students who will be sharing advice and experience from the student perspective on the 1L job search. Food will be provided. Room 121, noon.
AFL Spring Discussion Night 1: Bioethics
Join the Advocates for Life for our first discussion night of the new year. The topic will be bioethics. We will discuss issues such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), frozen embryos, stem cell research, and the various aborted baby body parts scandals. Room 222, 7 p.m.

Black Tie 101
The Black Law Students Association invites you to attend Black Tie 101 with Prof. Don Gjerdingen. The lunch time session will provide a lesson on formal attire and proper dining etiquette in anticipation of the 29th Annual Rapheal M. Prevot, Jr. Barristers' Ball. BLSA will be giving away one free ticket to the ball at the session. All are welcome to attend. Room 120, noon.
PAD Full Chapter Meeting

Join Timothy Flowers, '11, of the U.S. Department of Justice; Francisco Guzman, '14, of the National Labor Relations Board; and Amanda Elizondo, '11, of the Indiana attorney general's office, as they discuss careers in government. Fourth Annual PILF Bowling Tournament
Join the Law School's Public Interest Law Foundation for the fourth annual PILF Bowling Tournament. Tickets are $10 each and cover the cost of at least two games and shoe rental. Sign up in teams of five or register individually and PILF will add you to a team. There will be a prize for the winning team. PILF members will be in the lobby each day at lunch to collect money and sign people up. Start your Thursday night right by supporting public interest law at Indiana Law and having a great time with friends! Proceeds go toward Singing for Summer Salaries and PILF's summer scholarship fund. IMU Bowling Alley, 5 to 8 p.m.

Call-out Meeting for New International Student Association Group
The Office of International Programs is excited to announce the creation of a new student group at the Law School. The group will work in tandem with our office in order to encourage graduate and exchange students to become more involved in both the Law School and the Bloomington community. We would like to invite all graduate and exchange students, as well as any JD students who would like to help create a welcoming environment for new international students, to attend the call-out meeting. Diagnostic Exam Workshop
This follow-up workshop will break down the diagnostic results and go over skills and strategies you can work on when you review for the bar this summer. This is only open to 3Ls and attendees should have registered with Ms. Liz Ferrufino by Dec. 16. Room 121, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On January 23, Prof. Leandra Lederman presented her paper "Does Enforcement Crowd Out Voluntary Tax Compliance?" at the University of Florida Levin College of Law's Tax Policy Colloquium.
Announcements
Indiana Law Book Club
The Jerome Hall Law Library is pleased to announce the first annual Indiana Law Book Club. Get to know your classmates, professors, and librarians better while discovering a good book in the process! The inaugural book club selection is The Last Days of Night by Graham Moore. The novel follows a young lawyer who is representing George Westinghouse in his patent dispute against Thomas Edison over who invented the lightbulb. Suggested discussion questions will be released in February. In the meantime, find others who are reading the book and set up a time to discuss it over lunch or coffee. Post a picture on Instagram using the hashtag #maurerbookclub and tag jeromehalllawlibrary for a chance to win a prize!
American Inns of Court competition open
The 2017 American Inns of Court Warren E. Burger Prize is open for applications. This writing competition has a submission deadline of July 1, 2017. The cash prize is $5,000 and the winning essay will be published in the South Carolina Law Review. Please see the student affairs bulletin board for additional details.
Cybersecurity Student Competition in Washington, D.C.
If you are interested in cybersecurity and collaborating with students in other programs at IU, the Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge is for you! In order to compete for a spot at the Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge, all registered teams must submit their answers to the three questions outlined below by January 31, 2017. Each answer should be 200 words or less. Please submit your answers to Anni Piiparinen (apiiparinen@atlanticcouncil.org). You may register your team before submitting your answers.
- What would you consider to be the most significant cyber incident to date, and why?
- What potential, future cyber incident keeps you up at night, why, and done by whom?
- Why did you compose your team the way you did, and what do you expect will differentiate your team from others?

How to Schedule an Event
An online form is available to plan and schedule meetings. Please use this form to request a room, notify Indiana Law Annotated, and send other information about your event. You will receive confirmation that your room has been reserved after your request has been processed. When filling out your event description, please provide all information possible, especially if you are requesting that the event be publicized.
ILA Submissions
Indiana Law Annotated is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. Entries may be edited to ensure consistent presentation. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) by emailing (lawrooms@indiana.edu). If you have questions about an item appearing in the ILA, please contact James Boyd (joboyd@indiana.edu; phone 855-0156). Indiana Law Annotated is archived online.
Audio-Video Services
