This Week in the Law School
The Gong Show rolls into Serendipity Nightclub on Thursday. This annual event serves as the unofficial talent show of the Law School, and we look forward to seeing this year's competitors. 2Ls and 3Ls: Spring course registration will begin Tuesday and continue into Wednesday. Look for emails from Student Affairs with further instruction. Enjoy the spectacular six-string skill of Nikola Begović today at noon. Our world renowned Jacobs School of Music is home to some of the world's brightest young stars, and Nikola is certainly among them.
Shout-out to CIPR's IP LawMeets team, which placed as semifinalists in the LawMeets regional competition in Chicago. Team members include Sarah Goodman, Sarah Rounsifer, Trevor Jenkins, and Evan Glass. Prof. Mark Need served as coach. And kudos to our Pro Bono Award-winners: Kyle Castillo (Class of 2017, 258.5 hours); Adam Farr (Class of 2018, 406 hours); Samantha Paul (Summer Pro Bono Winner, 829.5 hours); Jessica Ans (Class of 2016 Lifetime Winner, 1,445 hours); and Michael Ausbrook, community award-winner.

Business Law Society: Course Planning
All students interested in business, corporate, or tax classes are invited to join Business and Law Society for a presentation from faculty members regarding the relevant curriculum for the upcoming semesters. Lunch will be provided. Room 124, noon.
Baier Hall Presents…
Enjoy the music of Nikola Begović over the lunch hour in the Main Lobby. At the age of 20, Begović won the Guitar Open Festival and as first guitar of the Serbian National Opera from 2012-15. We are pleased to welcome Nikola to Baier Hall today. Stop by and enjoy his music. Main Lobby, noon.

Spring Registration
Spring registration will take place November 1-2. 3Ls will request their classes in the Law School Online Registration System on November 1, and 2Ls and grad students will get their chance on November 2. Students will receive an email from Alexis Lanham with instructions the day before their registration date.
A2J Project: A Presentation on Presentations
1Ls: Your A2J coaches are hosting a session to prepare you for the presentation segment of your project. Come learn tips and techniques that will help you communicate your strategies to your classmates, coaches, and professors. The event is not mandatory, but is highly encouraged. Room 122, noon.
Lexis Legal Research Certification
Come and earn your Lexis Advance Legal Research Skills Certification. This 30-minute session lets you demonstrate to potential employers that you have the basic skills necessary to conduct legal research in a cost- and time-efficient way. Passing the certification quiz also gets you added to the employer searchable National Certification Registry. Students only need to attend one of the four sessions. Attendees will also earn a chance to win one of three $100 Amazon gift cards. Room 124, Noon to 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.
LLSA General Body Meeting

Prof. Pamela Foohey will present "'No Money Down' Bankruptcy" as part of the CLSC's Fall Colloquium. Faculty Conference Room, noon.
IP Colloquium: Lisa Ramsey
The Center for Intellectual Property Research will host Prof. Lisa Ramsey (University of San Diego School of Law), who will present "A Free Speech Right to Trademark Protection?" for Prof. Marshall Leaffer's IP Colloquium. Two Indiana CLE credits have been approved for this event. Room 214, 1:15 to 3:15 p.m.

Faculty News
Last week, Prof. Pamela Foohey presented her research about religious organizations that file for bankruptcy on a panel titled "Restructuring and Bankruptcy Challenges in the 21st Century World of Not For Profits," organized by the Commercial Law League of America during the 2016 National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges Conference.
On November 10th, Prof. Kevin Brown will participate in a panel discussion on the panel Ethical and Economical Perspectives where he will discuss "Are African Boarding Schools as Charter Schools the Answer for the Educational Dilemma facing Low-Income, Urban African-American Students." The panel discussion is part of the symposium on Best Practices in Educational Justice: Boarding Schools for Marginalized Youth to be held at Schloss Herrenhausen, Hanover, Germany.

ILA Submissions
Indiana Law Annotated is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. Entries may be edited to ensure consistent presentation. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) by emailing (lawrooms@indiana.edu). If you have questions about an item appearing in the ILA, please contact James Boyd (joboyd@indiana.edu; phone 855-0156). Indiana Law Annotated is archived online.
