Attend Friday's noon-time session to hear from students who were there this summer. Reminder: Stewart Fellows applications are due Oct. 17, so get started now if you're hoping to spend next summer abroad. Finally, Hoosiers Outrun Cancer takes place Sept. 17, and we'd love to have a huge Law School team out for one of the best events of the year. Team Fromm has consistently been one of the top fundraisers in this event, and we hope to keep it that way. Details in the announcements.

Access to Justice Program Ethics Training
The AJP Ethics Training is mandatory for all students who want to participate in a pro bono student group during their time at Indiana Law. If you are a 2L or 3L who has already attended the training in years past, you do not need to attend the training for a second time. Lunch will be provided! Researching Statutes: Advanced Techniques and Tips
Statutory research is one of the most common (and important) tasks you'll do as a practicing attorney. Come to this brownbag session in the Jerome Hall Law Library to learn more. We'll review basic statutory research skills and go into advanced features on Westlaw, Lexis, and Bloomberg. This is the first in a series of research workshops given by the law librarians. Be on the lookout for future sessions this semester on case law research and administrative law research. ILAP Student Training
If you are interested in criminal law, would like to know more about the federal criminal process, or would just like to chip away at your pro bono hours while getting practical research experience, then come to the Inmate Legal Assistance Project training Thursday, September 8 at noon. Become qualified to work for ILAP or just come by to learn more about the organization. As if that isn't sweet enough, there will be an ice-cream sundae bar. The Law School participates in the NYU School of Law International Student Interview Program, which is a job fair for foreign-trained lawyers who are studying in LLM or SJD programs. Prof. Cole Seeking RA
Prof. Dan Cole is looking for a bright second- or third-year student to serve as a research assistant on an empirical research project concerning judicial review of EPA regulations. The research should not require more than 10 hours or so per week of work (at the standard law school wage). A 3.0 grade point average or better is required. Substantial experience using both Westlaw and Lexis is also a must. Experience preparing Excel spreadsheets is a plus. Having taken Environmental Law and/or Administrative Law is another plus. Hoosiers Outrun Cancer: Join Team Fromm
Join other members of the Law School community on September 17 for one of the best events of the fall - Hoosiers Outrun Cancer. Anyone interested in participating in the event (which features both a 5k and one-mile run) is welcome to join Team Dean Fromm in honor of the late Len Fromm, our former dean of students. Be sure to click "Join Team" first, rather than the "Donate Now" button, which helps Team Fromm remain one of the best fundraising teams of the event. (Team Fromm has raised the most money outside of corporations and large businesses and doctor's offices for the past two years.) We look forward to seeing you on September 17.
Basic Mediation and Restorative Justice Training
The Community Justice and Mediation Center (CJAM) offers a 40-hour training program for community members interested in learning about conflict resolution, mediation, and restorative justice. Participants will enhance their interpersonal skills in communication and listening, problem solving, and negotiation, and they will increase their understanding of restorative justice philosophy and methods, the sources of conflict, and the processes leading to constructive conflict resolution. The training should benefit any community member concerned with managing conflict and its resolution. The training provides the background and skills necessary to work as a community mediator and restorative justice practitioner and qualifies participants to volunteer in CJAM's programs. The training will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. over five weekend days: September 10-11, 24-25, and Oct 1. at the Law School. The training will be led by senior mediators and restorative justice practitioners. Tuition is $300, $275 if received by August 27th. Scholarships are available. You will receive confirmation that your room has been reserved after your request has been processed. When filling out your event description, please provide all information possible, especially if you are requesting that the event be publicized.
ILA Submissions
Indiana Law Annotated is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. Entries may be edited to ensure consistent presentation. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) by emailing (lawrooms@indiana.edu).
