This Week in the Law School
We begin winding down the semester (and year) with the "last lecture," presented today at noon by Prof. Aviva Orenstein. Does Prof. Orenstein have a new book out? Yes! Thank you for asking. Fat Chance is available from Amazon. ILA will provide you with a last lecture next week.
Check out all the elections going on this week; many student organizations are selecting next year's members. Vote. (You don't even need a photo ID). CACR will host Adam Slagell Thursday. He'll be talking about security monitoring with the Bro platform, which we can only assume is some sort of Little 500 precaution undertaken by the Jordan Avenue houses.
Dean Parrish will take time away from drinking coffee at the Indiana Avenue Starbucks to drink coffee in the Jerome Hall Law Library, today at 2:30.

Last Lecture Featuring Professor Orenstein
Join faculty and fellow students in celebrating the end of another school year with the "Last Lecture." This event is one of the most anticipated events of the year, and it features a professor who is either retiring or who is known for encouraging and supporting the student body throughout the year. SBA could not be more excited to announce that this year's speaker is Prof. Aviva Orenstein, who has provided great support and encouragement to the 3L class during its time at Maurer. SELS Elections

Law School faculty and staff are encouraged to attend this year's staff merit awards, where we will recognize employees whose service to the school has been exceptional during the past year. Family Law Society Executive Board Election
The Family Law Society will be electing a new executive board for the 2016-17 school year. All members and anyone interested in applying are encouraged to attend. Interested students are not required to be current or active members. Jimmy John's lunch will be provided. Room 222, noon.
Fall Recruiting Explained: A 1L Introduction to Applying to and Interviewing with Law Firms
Believe it or not, you need to start thinking about and planning for next summer soon! This session will specifically focus on strategizing for a job with a law firm next summer. If you plan to participate in any of the school's recruiting events, you are expected to attend this session. The CSO will provide an overview of the Indiana Law managed recruiting and interviewing events as well as a general guide for applying to law firm jobs outside of these processes. Lisa Brown, the professional development partner at Schiff Hardin in Chicago, will provide guidance to you on how to make the most out of your on campus interviews and what to expect from a call-back interview. We will also be joined by a BigLaw associate to provide the inside scoop about life as an associate in a law firm. Lunch provided for those who RSVP 24 hours prior to the event. Bridge-to-Practice Information Session
The Career Services Office will hold an informational session to discuss the Bridge to Practice program. Bridge-to-Practice Fellowships are available to eligible graduates who secure unpaid volunteer positions with public interest organizations or small firms while continuing their job search after graduation. This session will cover the purpose of the fellowship, details of the program, graduate and employer responsibilities, and any questions you may have. Lunch will be provided to those 3Ls who RSVP at least 24 hours in advance. Room 122, noon.

Summer Externship Mandatory Class Meeting
A class-meeting for all students registered (or planning to register) for a summer externship, organized by Prof. Inge Van der Cruysse, director of externship programs, and faculty advisors Laura Daghe, Robert Downey, Lisa Farnsworth, Seth Lahn, and David Main. This class is mandatory for all students registered for the following externship courses: B547 Public Interest, B698 Judicial Field Placement, B514 Private Externship, and B545 Criminal Law Externship. This class will introduce students to the academic component of their externship and the program requirements. Attendance will be taken, and RSVP through CareerNet/Symplicity is required prior to the class meeting. Room 121, noon.

Prof. Kevin Brown delivered lectures in Mumbai, India at two different celebrations of the 125th anniversary of the birth date of Dr. Ambedkar on April 10th and 11th. Prof. Brown presented "What Struggle by African-Americans meant to their Liberation?" and "In Praise of Dr. Ambedkar from African-Americans."
Prof. Sarah Jane Hughes has contributed to the Research Handbook on Electronic Commerce Law. The steady growth of internet commerce over the past 20 years has given rise to a host of new legal issues in a broad range of fields. This authoritative research handbook comprises chapters by leading scholars — including Prof. Hughes — that will provide a solid foundation for newcomers to the subject and also offer exciting new insights that will further the understanding of e-commerce experts.
Staff News
The Office of Admissions welcomes Kendra Abercrombie as assistant director of admissions. Kendra joins the Law School on April 18 from her alma mater, Arizona Summit Law School, where she has served as an admissions counselor since 2012. Welcome, Kendra!

Thank You to POP Volunteers
The Protective Order Project would like to thank its volunteers for another successful year of serving victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and stalking in the Bloomington Community. We opened a record 118 cases thanks to the hard work of our Maurer students. We'd also like to congratulate next year's POP Board: Alex Chitwood (student director); Aly St. Pierre (assistant student director); Ashley Kim (case management supervisor); Jordan Burton (treasurer); Anna Sturges and Bradley Thomas (outreach directors); Kaitlin Sheets and Jules Cantor (fundraising coordinators); Jessica Falender and Abby Goreham (volunteer attorney coordinators); and Boyu Wang (LLM liaison). Faculty Research Assistant Sought: Paid Position
The Jerome Hall Law Library is now accepting applications for the position of faculty research assistant (FRA) for a new program at the Maurer School of Law. Successful applicants will be responsible for conducting research on a variety of topics for members of the Indiana Law faculty. Topics and research methods will vary by project. FRAs will be supervised and given assignments by the student services librarian. Pay is $10 per hour, and FRAs will be expected to work up to 29 hours per week. If you wish to apply, but cannot commit to 29 hours per week, please indicate that in your application. FRAs must be located in Bloomington for the entire summer. For this reason, the positions are limited to rising 2Ls and 3Ls. To apply, please submit a CV, a (one paragraph) statement of interest, and the name and email address of one Law School reference to Kimberly Mattioli (kdcogswe@indiana.edu). Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday.
Relieve Exam Stress at the Jerome Hall Law Library
Exam stress-relief activities are back in the Jerome Hall Law Library. Please join us in the library lobby from April 21-May 6 to take a well-deserved break from stress and studying. There will be board games, coloring books, jigsaw puzzles, and more. We look forward to seeing you there.

An online form is available to plan and schedule meetings. Please use this form to request a room, notify Indiana Law Annotated, and send other information about your event. You will receive confirmation that your room has been reserved after your request has been processed. When filling out your event description, please provide all information possible, especially if you are requesting that the event be publicized.

Indiana Law Annotated is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. Entries may be edited to ensure consistent presentation. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) by emailing (lawrooms@indiana.edu).
