Laura Fonseca, a director in the Career Services Office since 2018, was appointed director of diversity, equity, and inclusion on July 1, 2021.
In addition to working with student groups and student organizations, Director Fonseca works closely with the Faculty Diversity and Inclusion Committee and with our director of student affairs, Katie Beck.
In addition to her impressive background in recruiting, international development, career services, and employer relations, Fonseca has experience leading DEI trainings and discussions and has worked with the School of Medicine on diversity and hiring initiatives. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in higher education, focusing on change and institutional influence over equity-centered policy. Some of her recently presented work focuses on the importance of diverse representation in faculty, and the persistence of women of color in STEM.
