Cybersecurity and Privacy Law Association's first president, Grayson Wells '20, will share his experiences working in privacy and cybersecurity law. An attorney at Stranch, Jennings & Garvey PLLC, Grayson will talk about building a cybersecurity practice and his perspective on issues currently facing the cyber industry. Food will be provided.

Israel-Palestine in the Scope of International Law
5 - 6:30 p.m. in the DeLaney Moot Court Room
The Middle Eastern Law Students Association, Jewish Law Students Association, and International Law Society revisit last year's panel on the role of international law in the current Israel-Hamas war.
Professors Feisal al-Istrabadi, Timothy Waters, and David Bosco will lead an in-depth discussion of the expectations of international law, the role of the United States, the escalation of events in Lebanon, and the definition of war crimes.

Wellness Week begins with live music!
Performing is Evelyn Theinert, a German-American Harpist currently in her fourth year of pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance and a minor in composition at the IU Jacobs School of Music. She has performed in Germany and the US as a soloist and orchestral musician, and continues to perform at the Jacobs School and for local functions and occasions in the Bloomington area.

Judge Advocate General (JAG) panel

A Peaceful Approach to Money Management

Dr. Theresa Popp Braun will reference the latest ABA Student Loan Debt Survey and other relevant research to explore the link between the financial stress and health with topics that include exploring cognitive and emotional biases, the impact of borrowing decisions, and developing financial habits and systems to support overall well-being. After attending, you will receive a scholarship entry for the annual MAX scholarship drawings.

Atrocity Crime Investigations in Gaza and Ukraine

Attorney Aonghus Kelly, the head of war crimes prosecution for the EU Advisory Mission to Ukraine, has had an extensive career working in Kosovo, Palestine, and Cambodia on war crimes investigations. Kelly will discuss his work and the enforcement of ICL in Gaza and Eastern Ukraine.

Emergency procedures preparedness training

Are you prepared for an emergency situation on campus? The safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff are our top priority. That’s why we are offering emergency preparedness training to help you stay safe and informed. The training will be conducted by the IU Police Department and will provide practical advice and guidance. You will have the opportunity to ask questions. All Law School students, faculty, and staff are invited.
Rewarding legal careers in public service

The Career Services Office will host Joseph Heerens '87, general counsel for Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, along with five other attorneys who serve as general counsel, deputy general counsel, or the executive director of various state agencies, for a panel discussion about public interest legal careers.
The panelists will share information about their roles, responsibilities, experiences, and careers in general. Importantly, they will discuss why they chose a public service career and what they find rewarding about it. Information will also be provided about the wide variety of state agencies and how they each have their own unique mission, role, and responsibilities.

Maurer Fall Volunteer Day

Finish fall Wellness Week right with a service project to help a local non-profit. Join your classmates for this service event at a local food kitchen, Pantry 279, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., or however long you can stay! OSA needs several pairs of helping hands, so please consider giving your time and energy for a good and local cause. Space is limited to 12 students.

In honor of ABA’s Pro Bono Week at the end of October, the Access to Justice Program will be giving Maurer swag to the member of each class with the most pro bono hours for the month of October!
