OLL DEI training

Outreach for Legal Literacy will host a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for volunteers. Dean Escobedo will give a presentation on DEI topics relevant to teaching fifth graders, such as micro-aggressions. OLL volunteers are required to attend one DEI training during the fall semester to volunteer in the spring.

Representing Labor: A Talk with Steve Ury

The Labor and Employment Law Society and and the American Constitution Society welcome Steve Ury, who has spent his career fighting for the right of workers to organize. He began as a union organizer in Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas. After five years in private practice, Mr. Ury joined the Service Employees International Union's legal department in 2003. Over 20 years, Mr. Ury has held several positions at the 2 million member SEIU, and is now its general counsel. Mr. Ury is a graduate of Yale University and New York University School of Law.
Mr. Ury is kindly joining us to share his experiences and answer any questions we may have, so feel free to ask him about organization strategies, how to get into labor law, or anything else you'd like.

Registration to participate in the 21st annual JD/GLS Socctoberfest Tournament is now open. The competition will take place Friday, October 25 at 5 p.m. at Karst Farm Park.
