Judges and Lawyers Program

Are you feeling stressed or overwhelmed? Care-giving or grieving? Maybe you are concerned for someone else. Don’t wait; help and support are available.
The Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program will be in Baier Hall meeting individually with students. All meetings are free and confidential.
Please make an appointment in advance by calling 317-833-0370. Tell them you’re calling to set an appointment with a counselor at the Maurer School of Law. You will be provided with a date, time, and room number.

Live from Baier Hall: Harpist Katie Calderwood
Noon - 1 p.m. first floor lobby
Katie Calderwood is pursuing a Master of Music degree in harp performance under the direction of Professor Elzbieta Szmyt at the Jacobs School of Music. Katie earned her B.M. with Dr. Alicia McQuay at Brigham Young University in Rexburg, Idaho in 2021. A native of Henefer, Utah, Katie began her harp studies at the age of 9 studying with Maria Phippen. Throughout the years Katie has attended and performed at various harp conventions including the 11th World Harp Congress in Vancouver, Canada, SAA Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 14th World Harp Convention in Torino, Italy, and performed with the BYUI Sinfoinetta in the Midwest. Katie is actively performing as a soloist and with a variety of orchestras.

Affordable loan repayment options

Are you considering a public interest career, but are concerned about your student loan debt? Are you just stressed about being able to afford your student loan payment after you graduate? We will discuss the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program and Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) plans. We will also give a brief overview of the current student loan landscape, including the status of President Biden’s' loan forgiveness proposal. Lunch will be provided.

Demystifying disability services for students

IJLSE Symposium: Social Movements and the Law

We are honored to have distinguished speakers Dean Christiana Ochoa and Professor Shane Greene (IU Department of Anthropology) to discuss how protests and social movements gain traction, and what paths they take to eventually lead to policy changes. Our speakers will also discuss how those in the legal field and in related fields can use their knowledge to create positive change.

Tax Policy Colloquium: Kimberly Clausing, "Capital Taxation as if Market Power Matters"

Inaugural Buttrey Chair Lecture: Prof. Aviva Orenstein, Feb. 23
"Evidence of Religion and the Religion of Evidence" will explore how Evidence Law treats religion and how Evidence Law with its rituals and beliefs is itself a kind of religion, demanding faith and challenged by modern science. The lecture is approved for one CLE credit.
