Public defender and prosecutor panel
6 - 7 p.m. on Zoom
The panel will include public defenders from the Regional Public Defender for Capital Cases and the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office; a prosecutor from the Monroe County Prosecutor's Sex Crimes Division; and an assistant United States attorney. Panelists will answer questions about their career paths, life as public defenders and prosecutors, and their advice for students interested in these practice settings.
PILF members receive 1 PILF point for attending.

Join the American Constitution Society for our annual Supreme Court Term Preview. Hear a panel of constitutional law professors discuss the Supreme Court's docket for this term.
IP lunch talk: Eyal Barash on "Pharmaceutical Patent Strategies in Drug Repositioning"

Join the Center for Intellectual Property Research and the Intellectual Property Association to hear Eyal Barash present "Pharmaceutical Patent Strategies in Drug Repositioning." Eyal has more than two decades of experience as a patent lawyer. Prior to starting Barash Law in 2009, he was chief patent counsel to SSCI, the world leader in solid-state chemistry. Earlier, Eyal practiced patent prosecution, litigation, and client counseling at a large intellectual property law firm in Washington, D.C. Eyal earned undergraduate degrees in chemistry and history from IU, a masters in physical chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley, and a law degree from Northwestern University in 1997.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to stop by to meet Katharine Esaray, MSW, LCSW, the Law School community's counselor-in-residence from the IU Student Health Center’s Counseling and Psychological Services.

Failure and How We Learn from It

IU School of Education Professor Rob Kunzman will delve into navigating failure and learning to manage the worries around it.
“Resilience in the face of failure is not a fixed or innate quality, but a fluctuating capacity. It’s not simply about ‘bouncing back’ from failure, but learning to manage the ongoing tension that exists as we navigate the distance between what we actually experience.”

Trick-or-Treat is back: October 27
LETS and OLL are bringing back Trick-or-Treat October 27 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. Faculty, staff, students, and their children or grandchildren are invited to a fun afternoon with tricks and treats! Faculty and Staff are encouraged to decorate their offices and hand out candy. The best decorations will win a decorative pumpkin and bragging rights as part of the First Annual Pass the Pumpkin Competition. We hope to see you there!
Pro bono challenge
As we approach the ABA's Pro Bono Week at the end of October, we want to encourage everyone to participate in pro bono by giving Maurer Swag to the member of each class with the most pro bono hours for the month of October. Make sure that you are logging your hours on TickSpot so that we're able to track them.
