Bradley Fellows Movie Night
The Bradley Fellows Program in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure, in conjunction with the Seminar in the Law and Psychology of Crime, Culpability, and Punishment, will present the movie Memento on Monday October 7 and Tuesday October 8 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Moot Court Room. All Maurer students are welcome to attend (please note that all Seminar students are required to attend at least one showing). The movie was directed by Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar), and features Guy Pearce, Joe Pantoliano, and Carrie-Anne Moss. For law students only.

Lyosha Gorshkov on LGBTQ Rights in Russia
Russian political scientist Lyosha Gorshkov, in conversation with Steve Sanders, will present “Being Queer in Putin’s Russia.” Gorshkov is an LGBTQ and human rights activist who is teaching this semester at Collins Living-Learning Center. Wellness Week Activities
World Mental Health Day (October 10) is a day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. Throughout next week, the Office of Student Affairs is hosting a series of activities that promote healthy living and positive approaches to maintaining mental health while in law school. See below for the schedule of activities.
Monday, Oct. 7: JLAP Sessions (all day): Counselors from the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program will be in Baier Hall all day to meet individually with students. Call 317-833-0370 to make an appointment.
Tuesday, Oct. 8: Chair Massage (etc.) in the Jerome Hall Library: Massage therapists from Touchstone Wellness Center will give 10-minute chair massages in the library. They will also have a room reserved for yoga and meditation, coloring books, and other small surprises. Sign up for a chair massage at the library front desk.
Wednesday, Oct. 9: Wednesday Walkers: Join Professor Mark Need for a guided walk around our beautiful campus. Walking improves self-perception and self-esteem, mood and sleep quality, and reduces stress, anxiety and fatigue.
Thursday, Oct. 10: Grit & Resilience Training: Join us for a lunch and live stream with Paula Laack-Davis from the Stress & Resilience Institute to learn about grit and how you can develop a growth mindset and improve your personal resilience. A non-pizza lunch will be served to those who RSVP on CareerNet. Room 213, noon-1:30 p.m.
Deadline for Outreach for Legal Literacy Trick-or-Treat
Members of the Law School community (students, staff, faculty, administration) are invited to escort their children (or other young guests) for trick-or-treating throughout Baier Hall. Various offices, student groups, and faculty members throughout the building will welcome trick-or-treaters to knock on their doors. Come in costume (of course!). Participating offices will be indicated via a map available from the Outreach for Legal Literacy table on the first floor
Offices, faculty members, and staff and student volunteers interested in handing out candy or otherwise volunteering for the event should contact the OLL executive board at ollexecboard@iu.edu. The deadline to sign up (in time for PIC-policy mandated background checks) is Thursday, October 10, two weeks before the event on October 24.
Protective Order Project Domestic Violence Awareness Week
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Come visit the POP table to pick up your your support ribbon and to sign our "I Stand With Survivors" canvas. POP members will be the lobby during lunch hour each day this week bringing attention to this important cause. We hope to see you there!
Bar Exam Prep Workshops
The Maurer School of Law is pleased to announce it will be offering two bar support programs in the spring semester aimed at helping students get a head start in their studies for the bar exam. These programs are hosted by Themis and are open to 3L, 2L and LLM students. To attend, please register on CareerNet by December 31, 2019.
MBE Diagnostic Exam and Strategies Workshop Saturday, February 1, 2020, Room 125, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (lunch provided). The diagnostic exam can be completed online before the workshop, or in-person on January 24 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in Room 121. First Amendment and Media Law Opportunity
The ABA Forum on Communications Law will award two or three full-ride scholarships to law students to attend the Forum's Annual Conference and the Media Advocacy Workshop. The scholarship includes your registration fee (including meals), lodging for the Forum conference and the Media Advocacy Workshop, airfare, and ground transportation. The conference occurs February 6-8, 2020 in Austin, TX. The deadline for applying for the scholarship is 11:59 p.m. CT on October 31, 2019. Here’s the link to apply and for more information.
