IP and the Film Industry: A Chat with John Armstrong (Pigasus Pictures)
Join the Center for IP Research for a lunchtime chat about IP and the film industry, featuring John Armstrong. Armstrong is an IU alumnus, and, in 2014, he became chief operating officer of Pigasus Pictures, LLC, and producer of its first feature film The Good Catholic. John has worked as a performer, instructor, teaching artist, and professor of acting, musical theatre, and voice in professional theaters and training institutions across the US and continues to coach business professionals on voice, speech, executive presence, and accent modification. Are You Smarter Than a Public Interest Attorney?
Join the Public Interest Law Foundation in “Are You Smarter Than A Public Interest Lawyer?” The event will loosely be structured like the popular quiz show, Jeopardy!, and will place competitors head-to-head in answering questions that professors, faculty, and staff submit. The competitor who correctly answers the most questions in a row will win a prize basket of Law School swag. To be a participant in the game, get one free ticket at the PILF table during lunch any day this week or at the door the day of the event. CLSC Speaker: Pamela Foohey
Center for Law, Society & Culture Advisory Board Chair and Prof. Pamela Foohey will present her paper, "Graying of U.S. Bankruptcy: Fallout from Life in a Risk Society." Her paper, co-authored with Deborah Thorne, Robert Lawless, and Katherine Porter, was the subject of a recent front-page New York Times article discussing older Americans’ increasing bankruptcy filings. Indiana University will host a flag-raising ceremony in honor of Veterans Day, which occurs on Sunday. The flag-raising ceremony will begin at 7:30 a.m. by the flagpole outside of Franklin Hall.

1L Summer Opportunities: Using Winter Break to Apply for Summer Positions
Come learn about how to make the most of your winter break to apply for summer opportunities! Prof. Inge Van der Cruysse and CSO Dean Anne McFadden will talk about tips for researching potential employers and exploring various practice areas. They will provide resources to start your search, and provide advice on how you can use your winter break for networking and preparing your application materials for employment opportunities nationwide. This will include a brief overview of externship programs offered for academic credit, other than Stewart Fellowships. Student Bar Association Apparel and Fundraiser
The SBA will be tabling in the Main Lobby from noon to 1 p.m. today through November 16. We will be selling our new apparel: Candy-stripe scarves ($20); scarf and beanie combo ($25); Indiana Law t-shirts ($10); and tank-tops ($5). Additionally, we will be taking pre-orders for quarter-zips. We will have samples of both the grey and the red, and they will be 1 for $45 or 2 for $80. Lastly, SBA is taking donations for a Thanksgiving fundraiser that will all benefits going to local families in Bloomington to help purchase food and supplies for the holidays.
Hoosier Hills Food Bank Drive
Barrels will be placed throughout Baier Hall and on the second floor of the Lewis Building this week for the donation of non-perishable food items for the Hoosier Hills Food Bank. There is a particular need for protein items such as peanut butter, canned tuna, canned soup, and canned or bagged beans. Look for the green and white barrels, and let’s challenge ourselves to fill them to the brim. For more information contact lawosa@indiana.edu.

On Friday, November 2, Professor Pamela Foohey presented "Life in the Sweatbox," co-authored with Professors Robert M. Lawless, Katherine Porter, and Deborah Thorne, forthcoming in Notre Dame Law Review, at the ClassCrits XI conference, hosted by West Virginia University College of Law.
Please welcome new faculty secretaries Cassie Fitzwater and Kyle Impini. Cassie begins today, and Kyle will join us on Nov. 19.
