This Week in the Law School
The Protective Order Project is hosting a symposium on domestic violence awareness Tuesday and several dine-and-donate opportunities this week to support their mission.
Consider donating diapers and other baby items to the drive for Middle Way House this week. As we enter the holiday season this is an excellent opportunity to give back to the community.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month Symposium
Join the Protective Order Project for a panel discussion on the impacts of domestic violence. You'll hear from speakers who have first-hand knowledge of surviving domestic violence, working with survivors, and cutting-edge research. Speakers will include: Kerry Hyatt Bennett, legal counsel for the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Inc.; Charlotte Willian, '04, child and family advocate for Susie's Place Child Advocacy Centers; Sarah Hunt, communications coordinator for Middle Way House; and Amy Holtzworth-Munroe, professor of psychological and brain sciences at Indiana University. Inmate Legal Assistance Project Docket Training and Letter Writing
ILAP will be holding its second letter writing workshop. Kim Mattioli will be conducting a docket training to help ILAP volunteers quickly find information about the individuals they are writing to and effectively digest the information they find. We will then break into groups so that volunteers can ask questions about their current letter assignments. Room 214, 4 p.m.

Diaper Drive for Middle Way House
If/When/How and Advocates for Life are holding a diaper drive for Middle Way HouseOctober 22-31 during lunch. Middle Way House is in need of size 3, 4, and 5 diapers and pull-ups,along withsippy cups, bottles, and wipes. This is a great opportunity to support an organization within thecommunity that does lots of good and is in need of these donations. Research Assistants Needed
Prof. Gina-Gail Fletcher is currently seeking one to two research assistants to help with researching, blue-booking, and cite-checking. The positions would start immediately and continue into the spring semester. Interested students should send Prof. Fletcher the following no later than Monday November 5th: (1) a resume, (2) an unofficial transcript, and (3) a writing sample (one from LRW will suffice). Congratulations to Prof. Mark Janis, '89, who has been elected to the American Law Institute, one of only 31 elected nationally.
Congratulations to Prof. Bill Weeks, '79, who received the Natural Area Association's George B. Fell Award for his 21 years of conservation and acquisition achievement and 12 years of conservation counseling and advocacy. The Fell Award is the NAA's highest honor.
Mary Beth Boyer will join the Office of Admissions as a coordinator replacing Holly Barnes, who took a position elsewhere within the university. Mary Beth has been a faculty secretary since 2014 and we look forward to working with her in Admissions.
