Inmate Legal Assistance/Federal Post-Conviction Relief Project: Beginning-of-Semester Meeting
Both experienced and new volunteers are invited to attend the new semester's first meeting of the Inmate Legal Assistance/Federal Post-Conviction Relief Project. The Project, through a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, assists those incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute with challenges to their convictions under 28 U.S.C. § 2255 and other matters. The Project offers a rare opportunity to polish legal research and writing skills before summer-job season and gain expertise in federal courts and criminal appeals. This is especially valuable for those planning to apply for judicial clerkships, as well as to do pro bono service. We will discuss plans for this semester and review frameworks to make your research and drafting on legal issues easier and more rewarding. If you have any questions, or would like to participate but cannot attend Monday's meeting, feel free to contact Student Director Andrew Murphy (3L) or Margot Newman (1L) at ilap@indiana.edu. Room 125, 5:00 p.m.
