Special Event: 7th Circuit Oral Arguments on FRIDAY
We are honored by a visit from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit on Friday, October 12. They will be hearing oral arguments in three cases from noon to 2:00 in the Moot Court Room (seating begins at 11:30). Mark your calendars now for this special event, and read the briefs for the cases on our website.
Fuchs Lecture MONDAY
Elliott Milstein, professor of law and former law dean at American University, and a founder of clinical legal education, will speak at noon in the Moot Court Room.

Elliott Milstein "Rounds" Session
Following the Fuchs lecture and reception, interested students and faculty will have an opportunity to participate in a collegial, professional dialogue known as "Rounds," which will be hosted and facilitated by Professor Milstein. In "Rounds," students engage with peers in a professional dialogue about their experiences in the role of being a lawyer. These conversations are intended to reinforce professional reasoning and ethical decision-making. Prof. Milstein will host and facilitate Rounds for interested students and/or faculty from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Room 335. He will ask one or more people to present a case or a problem for the consideration of the group and will work with the group to examine goals, to identify the dynamics of the problem, and to propose solutions or ways of understanding the situation that was presented. OCPD is offering students the opportunity to take the StrengthsFinder 2.0 Assessment in order to discover their individual personal strengths. Information Session on the LL.M. Thesis Program
Current LL.M. and M.C.L. students who are interested in transferring to the LL.M. Thesis program should plan to attend this information session. Director of Graduate Admissions, Mr. Will Schaad, will explain the application process, while Director of Graduate Legal Studies, Prof. Lisa Farnsworth, will discuss the academic legal research and writing requirements for the program. Panel: Practicing before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals
A panel of Circuit Court Judges of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals will discuss briefing, motion practice, and oral argument before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and will answer questions from the audience. Moderated by Prof. Robert Downey and Jon Laramore, Faegre Baker Daniels LLP. Moot Court Room, 4:30-6:30; reception following. 2.0 hours CLE credit available for Indiana practitioners. The Asian Pacific American Law Student Association is holding a "Bollywood Night" event on October 11th at 8:00 p.m. at Serendipity. Ticket sales will be taking place at lunch in front of the library until the day before the event or at the door.

Please join OCPD and the Access to Justice Program in the student lounge for a small group session with Marc Kadish. Human Trafficking Study Group
The "Many Faces of Human Trafficking" Faculty Study Group, sponsored by the IUB Center for the Study of Global Change, welcomes interested faculty, staff and students to its fall 2012 brown-bag luncheons. October 10: Talk with Christie Popp, Directing Attorney with the Indiana Legal Services' Immigrants and Language Rights Center in Bloomington. Popp is a legal advocate for undocumented workers and victims of trafficking and domestic violence in Southern Indiana. Seminar Room, Center for the Study of Global Change, 201 N. Faculty News
Professor Marshall Leaffer presented a paper at the Second Annual Roundtable on Intellectual Property Law (September 28-29), at the University of New Hampshire Law School, Concord NH, titled, "Reconciling Copyright Preemption with the Right of Publicity."
Professor Ajay Mehrotra participated in the opening panel on Tax Reform at a September 28th conference on "The Carter Commission: 50 Years Later, A Time for Reflection and Reform" hosted by the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. He presented his paper, "The VAT Laggards: A Comparative History of US and Canadian Resistance to the Value-added Tax."

The Indiana Law Annotated (ILA) is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) via the Plan a Meeting feature of the website. If you have questions about an item appearing in the ILA, please contact Ken Turchi (kturchi@indiana.edu; phone 856-4044). Indiana Law Annotated is archived online.
