Overseas Internships Presentation/Information Session
The Stewart Fellows -- students who participated in the 2011 and 2010 overseas internships in Brazil and India -- will make a presentation and answer questions about their experience and share their insights on how the experience has prepared them for future success. Although plans have not been finalized, internships in China may also be offered next year. Faculty and staff who administer the overseas internship program will also be on hand to answer questions about the programs and the application process. Room 124, noon.
ELS Lecture on Fracking
Grab your lunch and join the Environmental Law Society for a brown bag lunch event featuring Jim Bemis, JD/MPA'85, presenting "What the Frack? The role of environmental law in unconventional natural gas development in the northeastern United States."
Mr. Bemis received his JD and MPA from IU in 1985 and currently is an attorney for the Baltimore District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He has extensive experience working with CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air, and Clean Water Act, as well as with the largest construction and operational projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. He has assisted with many stream, wetland, and coastal restoration projects, acid mine drainage cleanups in Pennsylvania, and the Corps' CWA regulation of the Marcellus Shale gas industry in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Family Law Society Fundraiser

Champions of Change
A national on-line conversation among law students and faculty, public service lawyers, and Attorney General Eric Holder. The White House and the Attorney General are calling on law students to step up their pro bono efforts, and the event will feature 16 exemplary "Champions of Change": lawyers who are using their degrees in the public interest. Room 335, 2-3:30 p.m.
Latino Law Student Association Annual Salsa Night: Noche de sabor
Admission will be $10, which includes cover, nacho bar, and other appetizers. Don't know how to dance? Professional salsa, merengue, and bachata lessons will be provided. There will also be a dance competition: anyone interested in competing in the dance competition should email Katy DeHart (katydehart@gmail.com) no later than Tues. Oct 11th. Faculty News
Prof. Ajay Mehrotra published an article in August in the Law & Society Review titled "From Programmatic Reform to Social Science Research: The National Tax Association and the Promise and Perils of Disciplinary Encounters," (with J. Thorndike) Law & Society Review 45:3 (2011), 593-630. Some of his older work was cited in a Bloomberg News blog posted by Thorndike.

Center for the Business of Life Sciences Reception
The Center for the Business of Life Sciences at Kelley School of Business invites all current and future CBLS Student Associates to a reception on Tuesday, October 11th at 5:30 pm at CG0034 in KSB graduate building. Representatives from Roche are scheduled to speak at the event. Plan to attend if you are interested in a career opportunity in the life sciences.

The Indiana Law Annotated (ILA) is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) via the Plan a Meeting feature of the website.
