Faculty News
On September 25, Professor Jim Barnes was the invited keynote speaker for the annual meeting of ECOS — The Environmental Council of the States — which is made up of the environmental commissioners of the 50 states. His talk drew on his 40+ years experience with the evolution of the environmental regulatory scheme and how the commissioners might deal with the current political environment where environmental issues are political footballs and environmental agencies are political punching bags. The theme of the talk was drawn from the opening line in J.M Barrie's Peter Pan: "This has all happened before — and it will all happen again."
On September 21, 2011, Professor Leandra Lederman presented her article, "The Fight Over 'Fighting Regs' and Judicial Deference in Tax Litigation," in a faculty workshop at George Washington University School of Law. On September 23, 2011, Professor Lederman participated in a symposium sponsored by the Villanova Law Review, presenting her paper entitled "Repeated Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Initiatives: Useful or Not?"
