JD Affiliates for the Center for Constitutional Democracy
The Center for Constitutional Democracy provides unpaid positions each year for law students to conduct research and carry out projects relating to the center's constitutional advising work in Burma, Vietnam, Iraq, Cuba, and Liberia.. The research may include work on human rights, electoral quotas, immigration policies, legal history, state versus customary law, and other topics. If accepted, the student affiliate will work with the center's program director and research fellows on a project-by-project basis. Join us for an informational meeting in the conference room of the center. Beck House (across Third Street from the Law School), noon.
Country Talk: Bahrain and Egypt
Noora Al-Shamlan, SJD'12, and Hesham Genidy, SJD'14, will speak on "Legal Systems and Constitutional Challenges in Barhain and Egypt" as part of the Center on the Global Legal Profession's Country Talk series. Join your fellow students as they provide insights on this timely topic. Lunch will be served. Room 120, noon.

Law & Society Workshop
Professor Joanna Grisinger (Clemson U. History Dept.) will present her paper, "The Unwieldy State: Administrative Politics after 1945." Grisinger is a leading legal historian of American administrative law. A copy of her paper is available on the workshop webpage. Faculty Conference Room, 4:00.
Graduate and Exchange Student Class Meeting with Student Bar Association Representatives

Raising the Bar
3Ls are invited to join the Alumni Board and their fellow classmates for appetizers and drinks at Raising the Bar, the kick-off event to the 3L pledge campaign. The campaign is a student-run effort to encourage 3Ls to pledge a gift of time or treasure to the school next year. Rest assured that no one will ask students for a donation at the event. Constitutionalism in Vietnam
Huong Nguyen will be presenting "Constitutionalism and Dialogic Process in Socialist Vietnam: Defending Rural-to-Urban Migrants' Rights Without A Constitutional Court." She will examine how constitutional arguments have been successfully raised against government policies that discriminate against urban migrants and discuss the meaning of this emerging constitutional debate in a regime where constitutions used to be seen as mere instruments of the ruling party. Announcements
Teaching Assistantship Applications for 2010-11 Academic Year
The Law School's Graduate Legal Studies Program for the 2010-11 academic year. The teaching assistants will work with international students in their legal writing and research course, the practicum and academic legal writing. Applicants must be available for approximately 10 hours each week and possess strong research and writing skills. Although previous teaching experience is preferable, it is not required. Persons selected to fill these positions must be available for orientation beginning on Aug. 15. Teaching assistants will be appointed on a semester basis, with reappointment in the spring conditioned upon performance in the fall. The stipend per semester is $1,500. Please include a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and references in your application packet, and indicate your availability for an interview. Applications are due no later than Friday, April 1, and should be submitted to Professor Lisa A. Farnsworth in room 220.
Congratulations to IU Maurer School of Law IP Moot Court Team!
Thanks to the efforts of Mike Morris and Noah Priluck, the Maurer School of Law earned a number one seed and a regional championship on March 13. Mike and Noah competed against 26 teams in the Chicago regional competition of the Giles Rich Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition. They defeated two teams from the University of Chicago and another from Hamline University to earn the regional championship. They will compete next month in the national competition in Washington D.C. against the champions and runners-up from the other three regions. This is the first time that Indiana Law has participated in this competition, which makes Mike and Noah's accomplishment all the more impressive. Josh Larsen (Barnes & Thornburg) served as the team's coach. Greg Ahrens (Wood, Herron & Evans, Cincinnati), Beth Cate, Marshall Leaffer, Scott Allen, K.T. LaBeau, JD/MPA'10, and Leslie Prill all helped with practice arguments in Bloomington.

Indiana Law Annotated (ILA) is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) via the Plan a Meeting feature of the website.
