Moot Court Spring Rounds Continue
The Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition is one of the Law School's showcase events. The spring rounds feature the best of the School's advocates. This week: quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. See below for dates and times.

Schools for Misrule: Legal Academia and an Overlawyered America
From Barack Obama (Harvard and Chicago) to Bill and Hillary Clinton (Yale), many of our national leaders today emerge from the rarefied air of the nation's top law schools. The ideas taught there in one generation often wind up shaping national policy in the next. The Federalist Society will be hosting Walter Olson, who blogs at the hilarious and informative Overlawyered, to discuss his new book, Schools for Misrule: Legal Academia and an Overlawyered America. Prof. Bill Henderson will provide commentary. The Federalist Society will provide free Starbucks coffee, and there will be ample time for questions. Monday, February 21, Room 120, noon.

Baker & Daniels Panel: What is Diversity in the Legal Profession?
Diversity is a term we hear regularly, but what does this mean in the legal profession and how does it affect you? All law students are invited to join us for an open discussion about this timely topic with Greg Utken, Mark Wright, JD'89; Shiv O'Neill, JD'01; and Haroon Anwar, JD'09; members of Baker & Daniels's Diversity Executive Committee and Recruitment Subcommittee. You will also learn about B&D's diversity scholarship, which provides two $10,000 scholarships. Recipients will also be offered positions as full-time summer associates at the firm. Pizza. Government Career Options in Health Law
Barbara Hudson will be speaking about her career with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, where she most recently served as Deputy Associate Counsel and principal legal advisor to the Indian Health Service. Sponsored by Health Law Society. Room 120, noon.

Wednesday, February 23
National Security Council Official to Visit Indiana Law
Join the Center on the Global Legal Profession and International Law Society as they co-sponsor a talk by Michael Newbill, Acting Director of South Asia at the National Security Council. While this talk will be geared towards students interested in pursuing a career in government, particularly in the foreign service, all are welcome to attend. Newbill will also provide background on current U.S. foreign policy objectives in South Asia. Before his current assignment, Newbill was Consul for Economic and Political Affairs at the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai. Before that, he was the Desk Officer for India in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at the State Department, with responsibility for all economic and consular issues with India. Academic Advising and Course Planning
These sessions provide information (with handouts) about graduation requirements, bar preparation coverage, and general scheduling matters to help you plan your course schedules for your remaining semesters. This foundational information will be most immediately helpful for you as you plan your fall class schedule; registration for 1Ls will be in early April. We will hold multiple sessions to provide flexibility for your busy schedules. The same material will be covered in each session, which should last 50 minutes. Room 121, noon and 4:00 p.m.

You will receive confirmation that your room has been reserved after your request has been processed. When filling out your event description, please provide all information possible, especially if you are requesting that the event be publicized.

Indiana Law Annotated (ILA) is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) via the Plan a Meeting feature of the website.
