Diversity plays a critical role in the success of organizations. Learn about the role of diversity in the legal profession from attorneys with Baker & Daniels on Tuesday, Feb. 16, from noon to 1 p.m. in room 216.
The Health Law Society is hosting Health and Wellness Week. HLS will host events every day throughout the week, and hand out health and wellness packets on Wednesday, Feb. 17, during the lunch hour.

Health Law Careers Panel
On Monday, Feb. 15, from noon to 1 p.m. in room 120, the Health Law Society will present a "Health Law Careers Panel," featuring Tom Hutchinson, of Krieg DeVault and chair of the ISBA Health Section; Jim Whitlatch, JD'84, of Bunger & Robertson; and Kelly Green, of Eli Lilly and Co., to speak about the different career opportunities in health law. Diversity and the Legal Profession
Diversity is a core value of numerous industries and professions: business, academia, government, medicine, and law. From noon to 1 p.m. in room 216, lawyers from Baker & Daniels will discuss how diversity is central to what it means to be a successful lawyer, what diversity means from a law firm perspective, and how lawyers address the lack of representation in the legal profession. The Great Health Care Debate: Is Nationalized Health Care the Cure for America?
The Black Law Students Association, Federalist Society, and Health Law Society will co-host a debate panel on health care, sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation. Is President Obama's plan sound policy or bad medicine? Debaters will include Doug Bandow, senior fellow at the Cato Institute; Neville Cox, director of post graduate teaching and learning at Trinity College Dublin School of Law; and Indiana Law Professor David P. Fidler. The panel, at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 16, will be moderated by Indiana Law Professor Yvonne Cripps. The event will take place in the Moot Court Room and lunch from Pita Pit will be provided.

Learn More About National Pan-Hellenic Council
The National Pan-Hellenic Council is a coalition of the nine largest historically African American fraternities and sororities, currently representing over 1.5 million members internationally. Strategies for Job Search Success: What Can You Really Do?
You know it's a tough market so be ready to learn about realistic strategies to help you get traction with employers and distinguish yourself as a candidate in this job market. Frank Kimball is the only former hiring partner of one of the largest national firms who provides search services, project consulting, and training for leading law firms. He has interviewed, hired, placed, or counseled more than 9,500 law students and attorneys. Each year he meets one-on-one with more than 200 law students who are considering joining the nation's leading law firms and with more than 200 lateral candidates. Kimball was a partner with McDermott, Will & Emery from 1986 to 1992, served for six years on the hiring committee, ran two summer programs, and was chair of the national hiring committee from 1990 to 1992. He owns Chicago's Kimball Professional Management, and will be at the Law School from noon to 1 p.m. in room 124. His presentation is open to all students. RSVP on Symplicity.

THURSDAY, FEB. 18
The Milošević Trial: An Autopsy
It has been four years since the longest and most prominent war crimes trial of the modern era was brought to an abrupt halt by the defendant's death — leaving the court, the peoples of the former Yugoslavia, and the world community without a definitive legal resolution. The Indiana University Maurer School of Law, in cooperation with the Russian and East European Institute and the Center for West European Studies, propose to conduct an autopsy of the Milošević trial — a clinical evaluation of the trial and its termination — and a biopsy of the institutional context in which the trial played out, as well as a prognosis for its legacy and impact. The conference, from Thursday, Feb. 18, through Sunday, Feb. 21, will bring together diverse group of trial participants, observers, and international criminal law scholars to examine the full course of the Milošević trial and its developing impact on global efforts to regulate mass violence and war.

On Friday, Feb. 19, from noon to 1 p.m. in room 120, the Health Law Society's own Macey Thompson, a certified personal trainer and nutritionist, will talk about some ways you can keep your mind and body healthy in law school. We will discuss nutrition and meal planning ideas. Professor Aviva Orenstein's essay, "Propensity or Stereotype?: A Misguided Evidence Experiment in Indian Country," dealing with the application of federal evidence rules regarding sex crimes, was recently published in Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy.

VITA Offering Free Tax Assistance
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is providing free income tax preparation for low- and moderate-income taxpayers is available Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. in room 122. All taxpayers making less than $49,000 per year qualify (including students, faculty, and staff), and may be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit. VITA is unable to assist foreign students with their taxes.

BARBRI Tabling
BARBRI will table from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays for the remainder of the semester. 1Ls can sign up now for any state and lock in your tuition price for your bar review class in 2012 or 2013, as well as get a helpful first-year review book containing a review of all of your required classes for your first year, example outlines, and helpful study questions. Upper-level students should stop by and pick up their upper-level review books. Bible Study Group
The Christian Legal Society has changed its Bible study time for this semester. CLS is holding weekly Bible study and prayer on Tuesdays at noon in room 215 of the Law School. Report Your Pro Bono Hours For Graduation Recognition
All students who reported pro bono hours during the fall 2009 semester should have received an email indicating total hours reported for fall 2009. If you did not receive an email, or believe that your total hours are incorrect, please email Judy Reckelhoff and Megan Mullett, Pro Bono Fellows, at WeDoGood@indiana.edu. As a reminder: to receive graduation recognition, current 3Ls must report a minimum of 20 pro bono hours for the 2009-10 school year. (Current 2Ls must report a minimum of 40 hours before they graduate, and current 1Ls must report a minimum of 60 hours before they graduate to receive graduation recognition.)
ILA Submissions
The Indiana Law Annotated (ILA) is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Information and articles for the ILA should be submitted to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. If you have questions about an item appearing in the ILA, please contact James Boyd (joboyd@indiana.edu; phone 856-1497).
Scheduling Events
All e-mails about reserving classrooms must be sent to BL-LAW-EVENTS. Mail must be sent to the correct address, bl-law-events (for Outlook users) or bl-events-law@exchange.indiana.edu (for non-Outlook users). Please include the date and time of event, the length of time room will be needed, the classroom requested, and the number of people attending the event. Requests should be sent at least one week before the event and should include the name of the person requesting, the organization planning the event, and an e-mail address. Confirmations will be sent by reply e-mail. Thank you!
Audio-Video Services
Requests for AV services should be sent to Max Exter av@exchange.iu.edu. Please include the name of your group and the e-mail address of the contact person, a description of what you want to do, and the date, location, starting time, and duration of the event. Requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance and will be confirmed by e-mail.
