Deadline Today for Admissions Fellows

IPA Final Meeting of Semester
The Intellectual Property Association (IPA) will be holding its last meeting of the semester in room 120 at 12:15 p.m. We will discuss IP internships, job fairs, outlines, and events for next semester. Snacks will be provided.

Union Board Sponsors Mock Appeal
The Union Board is revisiting the landmark case Roe v. Wade by sponsoring a mock Supreme Court appeal of Carhart v. Gonzales at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, in Alumni Hall at the Indiana Memorial Union.
FACULTY NEWS
Professor Ajay Mehrotra was the discussant at a panel on "Historical Perspectives on Changes to Congress and the Courts" at the Social Science History Association Conference in Portland, Ore.
On November 16, Professor Alex Tanford presented an argument in the Indiana Supreme Court on the effect of a rebuttable presumption of nonliability for manufacturers who comply with federal safety standards in a product liability case. He is pleased to report that despite the dryness of the topic, no justice fell asleep. The case is Schultz v. Ford Motor Co., and the argument can be viewed online at http://www.in.gov/judiciary/supreme/ (click on "oral arguments online").

Angel Tree Program
The Christian Legal Society (CLS) is taking part in the Angel Tree Christmas program this holiday. Angel Tree Christmas works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. During the week of Nov. 28, CLS members will have tables set up to collect donations to help buy Christmas presents for children of prisoners. Admissions Fellows Wanted
Second- and third-year students are encouraged to apply for a new admissions and recruiting program aimed at making even more personal contacts with prospective students. Admissions Fellows will be an extension of our very successful tour guide and summer student assistant programs. Six Fellows will be selected for the spring semester to contact admitted students and guide them through the process; to participate in open houses, online chats, and Spring Law Day; and to act as a Law School representative at other events. Fellows will be required to hold evening office hours for the purpose of contacting students by phone and to attend periodic meetings with the Admissions Office staff. Fellows will receive a stipend of $500 for their efforts and will be expected to work 2-5 hours per week. Fellows will be selected based on personality/interpersonal skills; previous participation in Law School activities, including Admissions programs and events; and personal interviews. Those students who are interested in participating should submit a resume and letter of interest to Dani Weatherford by Monday, Nov. 21. Interviews will be scheduled for the week of Nov. 28. Phi Delta Phi (PDP) International Legal Fraternity is hosting a Holiday Toy Drive in the lobby. If you have spare toys or some extra change, please visit the toy box at the PDP table, and help disadvantaged children have a happy holiday!
Annual Law School Trial Tournament
Impress your friends! Gain courtroom experience! Pad your resume! Find out if you're the next Perry Mason! Plan now to participate in the Law School Trial Tournament to be held Jan. 7 through 11, just before the start of next semester. The rules are simple. The tournament is open to all 2Ls and 3Ls who have not previously competed. You do not need to be taking trial advocacy or any other course. Trial Competition Team: Spring 2006
There are several openings on the trial competition team for the spring semester. Students will be invited to join the team based on their performances in the Law School Trial Tournament, so participation in the tournament is necessary for consideration. Directed Reading Opportunity for Spring 2006
Professors of school law from the School of Education are looking for a few law students to assist with their undergraduate secondary education or elementary education school law courses. Law students would assist with lesson plans, grading, and some teaching. Topics addressed in the course include church/state relations, student speech rights, special education law, teacher privacy rights, tort law, and teacher contracts. Classes meet on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday evenings. The time commitment would be approximately 3-5 hours per week, and students can receive 1 directed reading credit. This is not a paid position. Get Involved with the Pro Bono Project
Would you like to network with attorneys? Do you need more real-world legal experience in order to find a job or to decide what area of law to pursue? Is there a specialty area of law that you would like to pursue, but do not know how? The Pro Bono Project is pleased to announce that students can accomplish all of the above while earning one B710 credit. By becoming involved with the Pro Bono Project, students can work with local attorneys and/or pro se litigants on a variety of cases in a variety of specialty areas. Scheduling Events
All e-mail about reserving classrooms must be sent to BL-LAW-EVENTS. Mail must be sent to the correct address, bl-law-events (for Outlook users) or bl-events-law@exchange.indiana.edu (for non-Outlook users). Please include the date and time of event, the length of time room will be needed, the classroom requested, and the number of people attending the event. Requests should be sent at least one week before the event and should include the name of the person requesting, the organization planning the event, and an e-mail address. Confirmations will be sent by reply e-mail. Thank you!
Audio-Video Services
Requests for AV services may be sent to Beth at av@exchange.indiana.edu. Please include the name of your group and the e-mail address of the contact person, a description of what you want to do, and the date, location, starting time, and duration of the event. Requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance and will be confirmed by e-mail.
