LEAFFER TO SPEAK TODAY ON COPYRIGHT AND MULTIPLE AUTHORSHIP
Professor Marshall Leaffer will give a talk this afternoon at 4:00 in the Lilly Library Lounge on "Copyright Law and Multiple Authorship." (Refreshments begin at 3:30.) All Law School faculty and students are cordially invited to attend.
STUDENT FORUM ON AFFIRMATIVE ACTION CASES TOMORROW
As a follow-up to last week's panel discussion of key affirmative actions cases Bakke & Grutter and their impact on the Law School's admissions practices, we will hold an open student forum on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 6:00 p.m., to continue the conversations and to focus on the climate at our school. A light supper will be served. This event is sponsored by the Community Life Committee, SLA, BLSA, LLSA, APALSA, and ACS.
FRANKE LECTURE ON FEB. 27
Katherine Franke, of Columbia Law School, will give a public lecture in the Moot Courtroom from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27. The lecture, part of the year-long celebration by the Kinsey Institute of the 50th anniversary of the volume on women's sexuality, is titled "Theorizing Yes."
NEWS FROM THE FACULTY
Professor Rob Fischman's latest article, "The National Wildlife Refuge System and the Hallmarks of Modern Organic Legislation," has just come out in Ecology Law Quarterly. The article explores the origins and precise meaning of the term "organic act," which is widely used in public land law. It argues that the evolution in the meaning of the term reflects larger shifts in the role of legislation in public resource management. The article illustrates this with an analysis of the 1997 Refuge Improvement Act, a substantial revision of the charter for the Refuge System and the first major statute governing public lands management enacted since 1976. Along the way, it attempts to show that the Refuge System's "dominant use" regime is an important model for sustainable resource management.

ENVIRONMENTAL LAW SOCIETY MEETING TUESDAY
There will be an Environmental Law Society meeting at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 18, in room 120. This meeting will be of particular importance as we will be discussing and voting on funding for upcoming projects.
GOOD LUCK TO ENVIRONMENTAL MOOT COURT TEAM!
For the first time in several years, the Law School will be sending a team to compete in Pace University's National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, in New York, beginning this Thursday, Feb. 20. Recognized as the preeminent environmental law moot in the United States, the competition draws more than 200 competitors from law schools throughout the country. Representing IU will be Dan Flynn, Jennifer Pollom, and Dan Trammel. Please wish them luck!
ILS COFFEE & BAKE SALE NEXT WEEK
ILS will be conducting a coffee and bake sale on Monday, Feb. 24, and Tuesday, Feb. 25. Coffee will be available all morning, and it will cost just $1. During the lunchtime period we'll have baked goodies for sale as well.

What: In the spirit of trying to connect with the international students in the law school, ILS is hosting a happy hour mixer.
