On April 5 (at noon in the Moot Court Room), University of Chicago sociologist Saskia Sassen will deliver the keynote address, "Globalization or Denationalization?", for the Law School's two-day symposium on Globalization and Democracy: Prospects for the Future. The symposium on April 5 and 6 marks the 10th anniversary of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies, which will publish the proceedings. For a schedule and a complete list of participants, visit the symposium Web site at http://ijgls.indiana.edu/about/symposium/.
CONFLICT RESOLUTION INSTITUTE BROWN-BAG: NATIONAL ISSUES FORUM
"Practicing Deliberative Democracy: The National Issues Forum in Bloomington," a talk by Professor Jeffrey Isaac and Marsha Bradford, will be given today, March 25, at noon, in the dean's conference room (third floor) at SPEA. Professor Jeffrey Isaac is the James H. Rudy Professor of Political Science and the director of IU's Center for the Study of Democracy and Public Life. Marsha Bradford currently serves as the Coordinator for the Safe and Civil City Program (S&CCP) in the Bloomington Mayor's Office.
Isaac and Bradford will speak about Bloomington's experience with a National Issues Forum on the topic of "Creating Communities, Fighting Sprawl," held last November and attended by over 100 citizens. They will present their thoughts on this experience, present the results of the evaluations, and offer their opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of using the National Issues Forum public deliberation process as a way to involve citizens in voicing their opinions on issues of public concern.
NEWS FROM THE FACULTY
Prof. Craig Bradley's latest article, part of a symposium on the 40th anniversary of Mapp v. Ohio, has just been published by the Case-Western Reserve Law Review. Titled "Mapp Goes Abroad," it is an analysis of how other countries, including the European Court of Human Rights, employ the exclusionary rule in their criminal procedure jurisprudence.
Prof. Rob Fischman gave a faculty colloquium at the University of California at Davis School of Law on March 12. His topic was "The Two Characteristic Styles of Environmental Law: Narrowing the Divide."

NEWS FROM STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
BLOOD DRIVE TODAY!
Come one, come all! It's the spring blood drive at the Law School. Due to last Halloween's stellar support and marvelous turnout, the Red Cross has again asked us for blood. Yes, there will be food, and yes, there will be prizes. Please come; you could help save up to four lives with one pint of blood, and the life you save may be your own.
The blood drive will be on Monday, March 25, from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., in the student lounge in the basement. Please come and bring a friend. We welcome first-time donors, too. Right now, the average age of a blood donor is YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S AGE. And while we love your grandmother, the supply of blood donors needs to start getting YOUNGER! Please do your part. Questions? Contact Patti Cummings, 3L.
CONSTITUTION SOCIETY ESTABLISHES LAW SCHOOL CHAPTER
IT IS OFFICIAL! The Indiana University School of Law Bloomington has established its very own chapter of the American Constitution Society for Law & Policy. Comprising students, professors, legal scholars, judges, practicing lawyers, and others, the American Constitution Society seeks to revitalize a progressive vision of the law in the classroom, courtroom, and committee room, where judicial nominations are weighed. The society seeks to restore fundamental values such as human dignity, protection of individual rights and liberties, genuine equality, and access to justice as the pillars of American law. For more information about the organization, please visit www.madisonsociety.org.
You are cordially invited to attend a lunchtime gathering of the society on Wednesday, March 27, at noon, in room 122. More information about the American Constitutional Society will be provided at this meeting, including how to become an executive board member of this organization. Questions? Contact Emily Glatfelter or Rob Griffith.
ENVIRONMENTAL LAW SOCIETY GROUP ATTENDS NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Jen Dreher, Aaron Feuer, Jeffrey Hyman, Chris Saporita, Freedom Smith, and Daniel Wasserberg attended the annual NAELS conference, March 15-17, in St. Louis. The theme of this year's National Environmental Law Society Conference was sustainable agriculture: "Food for the Future." The group of six was the largest contingent from any of the 25 member schools. The conference presented fair and balanced ideas ranging on topics from aquaculture to genetic engineering (biotech).
Chris Saporita was nominated and elected to a NAELS at-large representative position: He will serve as co-chair of the clinical education initiative. Daniel Wasserberg was nominated and elected as the NAELS representative for region 7, including Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
Next year the conference will be held in Baltimore, at the University of Maryland. This year's gathering was nicely organized, well attended, and left the attendees with a great sense of promise for the coming year(s).

ATTENTION, GRADUATING STUDENTS!
Believe it or not, it is time to begin the planning for the graduation display for the lobby. As we have done in the past, we want to do a collage of pictures, memorabilia and clippings regarding your three years of law school. We have already gathered a few things, but the real source of such items is all of you. We will return all the items to you following graduation. Here is what we would like to include:
Pictures (students, events, weddings, children) depicting some aspect of your lives while law students.
Memorabilia including law school tee shirts, cups, posters from events that occurred during the three years. Plaques, trophies or awards won can be included.
Clippings from any newspaper article about you, a fellow third year, or the law school during the three years. These can be local paper clippings or from your hometown. Be sure to include what newspaper the article is from and the date of the article.
Anything that has significance to you, will fit in the display case, and is in reasonably good taste can be included.
Please get these items to us as soon as possible. Each item must have a completed form attached that includes your name and the address where you want it returned. You can pick up these forms at the Reference Desk or in the Library Office. For pictures, include who or what it is, and what year it was taken. All comments or reminiscences must be signed, although we will not necessarily use your name in the display. We reserve the right to omit any item if needed.
GIVE ITEMS TO THE LIBRARIANS IN THE REFERENCE OFFICE OR TO THE ASSISTANT TO THE LAW LIBRARY DIRECTOR. To insure that we have all the necessary information to return the items, do not just leave them in the office or at the Circulation Desk.
