FORMER LIBERIAN PRESIDENT TO SPEAK NEXT MONDAY
The Black Law Students Association and the International Law Society will be co-sponsoring an talk on Nov. 19, 2001 at noon, in room 125. The speaker will be Amos Sawyer, former president of Liberia, who will discuss America's Foreign Policy towards African nations and political issues surrounding Liberia. A reception will honor him immediately following the discussion.
IU ATHLETIC DIRECTOR TO SPEAK ON THURSDAY
Michael McNeely, Indiana University's Athletic Director, will speak on his experiences in the sports and entertainment law field at noon on Thursday, November 15th in Room 124 of the law school. Pizza and drinks will be provided by the Sports and Entertainment Law Society.
McNeely came to IU last spring after serving as the vice president and chief operating officer of the San Diego Chargers. Before his employment with the Chargers, McNeely was director of athletics at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif., director of operations and a compliance and enforcement officer at the NCAA, and an assistant football coach and recruiting director at the University of Colorado. He has a law degree from the University of Oklahoma and also is an alumnus of Northwestern Oklahoma University, where he was captain of the football team.

Don Gjerdingen received the 2001 Rabb Emison Award at the ISBA Annual Meeting in South Bend on Thursday, Oct. 25. The award is given by the Indiana State Bar Association's Committee for Racial Diversity and recognizes efforts to increase racial diversity in the legal profession.
Sarah Jane Hughes was interviewed about the November 7th arrests and seizures of records of affiliates of the al Taqua and al Barakaat banking, money services, and communications networks alleged to be sources of financial support for al Quaida, and about the informal but extensive network of money transmitters known as hawala. Channel 13 News, the NBC affiliate in Indianapolis, did the live interview and broadcast portions of the interview during its 11 P.M. newscast.

CANNED FOOD DRIVE THIS WEEK
Phi Delta Phi will conduct a Thanksgiving canned food drive to benefit the Backstreet Mission's Food Pantry this week. Please, clean out your kitchen cupboards, pick out extra cans or boxes of food at the grocery store and feel good about supporting families in the Bloomington community during this season of reflection and thanksgiving. Remember: you can make a big difference in a small way!
Look for marked boxes in the Student Lounge area Monday (Nov. 12) through Wednesday (Nov. 14).

Please include date and time of event, length of time room will be needed, classroom requested and number of people attending event. Requests should be sent at least one week prior to event and include name of person requesting, organization planning the event and an e-mail address. Confirmations will be sent by reply e-mail.

Requests for AV services may be sent to Beth at av@exchange.indiana.edu. Please include the name of your group and the e-mail address of the contact person, a description of what you want to do, and the date, location, starting time and duration of the event. Requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance and will be confirmed by e-mail.
