PRESENTATION ON STRESS AND TIME MANAGEMENT TUESDAY
Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Noon, in the Moot Court Room, Dean Fromm will offer his thoughts on dealing effectively with law school stress and related matters. He will review specific causes of stress in this context and some of the common coping mechanisms. However, the primary focus will be to give students some new ways of thinking about stress that might be helpful to everyone, not just those who are feeling particularly anxious or feel they are not dealing with stressors very well at the moment. This presentation fulfills a professionalism requirement for first year students (it is one of four options students can select). All interested members of the law school community are encouraged to attend. Dean Fromm may offer another session if there is sufficient demand.
WANT THE JOB OF YOUR DREAMS?
Kimm Walton, author of Guerrilla Tactics for Getting the Legal Job of Your Dreams, will present a free seminar on behalf of the Career Services Office on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Moot Court Room. Kimm has talked with thousands of employers all over the country and she will share with you what she has learned from them, plus interviewing techniques, outstanding cover letters, great resumes, and much more.
WHAT IS FEMINISM ANYWAY?
The Feminist Law Forum is hosting a wine and cheese reception followed by a panel discussion on "What is Feminism, Anyway?" on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 5:00 p.m. in the Moot Court Room. The purpose of this event is to draw opinions and observations from various perspectives, including those of the Law School community. Our main theme underscores the idea that feminism incorporates various and sometimes divergent cultural, political, and theoretical perspectives. A woman or man who says, "I am not a feminist!" might more correctly state her or his position as, "I disagree with radical feminists but I agree with liberal feminists." Our guest speakers include:

PLAY AND DISCUSSION PANEL ON THE DUTIES OF SUBORDINATE LAWYERS
The Community Life Committee is sponsoring a play and panel discussion on the ethical problems faced by subordinate attorneys. The presentation will take place in the Moot Court Room on Friday, Feb. 9 at noon. The actors are students from our own Law and Drama society. The panelists are Professor Charlie Geyh, Matt Gutwein, of Baker & Daniels, and Caryl Bowers, of Mallor, Clendening, Grodner & Bohrer. Ms. Bowers is the president of the Monroe County Bar Association. This program will fulfill a professionalism requirement for first-year students (it is one of four options students can select) but is also open to the entire law school. The program will offer valuable insights into ethical and practical problems faced by summer clerks and new associates.

Dean Alfred Aman met with alumni in New York City on Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. On Friday, Feb. 2, he participated in a conference at Fordham University School of Law entitled, "Redefining the Public Sector: Accountability and Democracy in the Era of Privatization." Dean Aman presented a paper at that conference entitled, "The Democracy Problem in Globalization: Making Markets More Accountable." The proceedings from the conference will be published in June by The Fordham Urban Law Journal.

First-year transcripts have been updated and are available in our office.
Written approvals from faculty for B600, Directed Reading, B706, Research, and B710, Independent Clinical Project are due for the II Semester 2000-2001. Approval forms are on the bookshelf in Room 022.
Indiana Bar applications for the July 2001 exam are ready for distribution, and the mailing deadline is April 1.
Tentative May and August 2001 graduates need to complete a data form in our office for certification of graduation, certification to the various state bars and the commencement program. The deadline for this form is Feb. 15.

BLSA INVITES YOU TO THE BARRISTERS BALL
BLSA would like to cordially invite you to our annual Barristers Ball. The Barristers Ball is the law school's only student-sponsored formal event of the school year. It is a night of fine dining and dancing ... a night where women can wear dazzling dresses and men sharp suits. This year's Ball will be on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, at Chapman's Restaurant and Banquet Center. A reception will be followed by dinner, socializing, and dancing. Tickets are $25 per person or $40 per couple. If nothing else, this is a wonderful way to cap off Valentine week!
SLA SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR ONE 3L AND ONE LLM REPRESENTATIVE
Your student government, the Student Law Association, will be holding elections to fill a vacant 3L representative seat and to establish a new advisory seat for one LL.M. student. The term for both positions runs until the end of this semester, with the option of running for re-election in April for a full year term starting in August (2001-2002). These positions are essential to ensuring adequate representation for all 3Ls and LL.M. students, so please take a moment to nominate someone you believe is qualified. Self-nominations are welcome. Nomination forms and the drop box for completed nominations will be available at the library circulation desk from Monday, Feb. 5, at 9:00 a.m. through Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 5:00 p.m. All nominees will be notified by Friday, Feb. 12, and given instructions on the election process. Elections will be held from Monday, Feb. 12, through Wednesday, Feb. 14, between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. in the school lobby, and the new representatives will take office beginning Monday, Feb. 19.
INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN LAW AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS OR IN LAW AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE?
Are you interested in current affairs and politics? Are you interested in coupling your interest in environmental law with some training in environmental science? Would you like to work for the government, either as a litigator or as legal counsel? Is public sector or environmental consulting more your speed?
The joint degree programs between the School of Law and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs combine the strengths of two highly ranked programs on the Bloomington campus, allowing students to complete two competitive, advanced degrees in four years. In the 25 years since the joint degree programs were established, alumni have assumed leadership positions in public policy, environmental management, and law.
Students who are interested in an interdisciplinary approach to legal and policy issues should consider the joint law/SPEA programs. Participants often find that they get more out of the classes they take at each school by applying the perspectives they have cultivated in their classes from the other school. The joint degree program allows students to attain useful professional credentials while at the same time developing alternative methods to solve problems outside the range of conventional practitioners.
Joint law/SPEA students also have formed their own student group. The Law/SPEA Student Association strives to further the causes of joint law/SPEA students, to facilitate communication between the two schools, and to facilitate the proper matching of students with a unique set of skills to employers who can appreciate the merits of the degree.
