6TH CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS JUDGE SPEAKS HERE TUESDAY
On Tuesday, Oct. 24, BLSA will host the Honorable Nathaniel Jones of the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals as he visits the Law School. He will address the student body at Noon in the Moot Court Room.
SPEA JOINT DEGREE INFORMATIONAL MEETING
Anyone interested in pursuing a joint degree at the School of Public and Environmental Administration should attend an informational meeting at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17 in the faculty conference room. A reception will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the faculty lounge. The meeting will cover both the environmental and the public administration masters degrees. A joint degree permits students to obtain both a JD and an MSES or MPA in four years, instead of the five years that would be required to take them separately. If you have any questions about the joint degree program in advance of the meeting, please contact Professor John Applegate.
RELIGION IN THE PUBLIC SQUARE: ELECTION 2000
On Thursday, October 19, a group of panelists, including two professors from the law school, will discuss the role of religion in the current electoral campaign. The panel discussion will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Jordan Hall A100. Organized by students from Religious Studies, Jewish Studies, Political Science, and the Honors College, the event is free and is open to law students and others.
The panel will include the following participants: Professor Kevin Brown; Reverend Joni Clark (Bethel AME Church); Professor Daniel Conkle; Kristy Nabhan-Warren (IU Dept. of Religious Studies); Leroy Rieselbach (IU Dept. of Political Science); Jeffrey Willsey (Bloomington City Council); and Gerald Wright (IU Dept. of Political Science).
MULTIDISCIPLINARY PRACTICE DISCUSSION NEXT WEEK
Mark your calendars for our next event!!!! On Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 7:00 p.m., in Room 736 at the Kelley School of Business, Bob Lattas will be moderating a panel discussion on the issue of Multidisciplinary Practice (MDP). On the panel will be practitioners and academics from both the accounting and law professions to discuss the MDP issue.
MDP is a *hot* debate among the American Bar Association (ABA), the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Independence Standards Board (ISB). This is an excellent opportunity to network with members of the business and legal profession. Any questions about this event should be directed to Bob Lattas (rlattas).

NEWS FROM THE RECORDER'S OFFICE
EXAM NUMBERS FOR FALL SEMESTER
Exam numbers for the fall semester are now available.
INDIANA STATE BAR EXAM
Indiana State Bar applications for the February 27 and 28, 2001 examination are available in our office. The filing deadline is November 15, 2000.
SPRING REGISTRATION
Students wishing to take outside courses for graduate credit need to submit their written requests to Dean Fromm and will need to process this course registration with the University starting on October 19.
In-house registration will take place in the Recorder's Office on the following days:
Current 3Ls, MCL, CERT, LLM and SJD - Monday, October 23
Current 1Ls - Tuesday, October 24
Current 2Ls - Wednesday, October 25
Registration materials will be available in the hallway in front of the Recorder's Office starting on Thursday, October 19. Class schedule grids and course descriptions will be placed in individual student mailboxes by Monday, October 16.
Registration is not on a first-come basis but on a graduation data priority basis with a random lottery for remaining openings. Exceptions to this policy may be made for "writing" courses, seminars, clinics, skills training courses, and courses suggesting or requiring pre-requisties. So, being "first in line" is not important, until classes begin in the fall, and we are filling spaces based on "wait" or "alternate" lists.

If you are interested in participating in the Show, email Rakuya Trice (rtrice). Tickets will be sold in the near future. Come show your talents!
BUSINESS & LAW SOCIETY READY TO DRIVE
On Saturday, Oct. 7, twelve members of the Business & Law Society had the exciting opportunity to be drivers in President Clinton's motorcade as he was supposed to visit Indianapolis for the day. Unfortunately, tension in the Middle East forced the President to stay working in the White House, thus his trip to the Midwest was cancelled. The invitation to participate in this event was only open to Business & Law Society members. For those who still would like to join, and thus have the opportunity to participate in events like these in the future, please place a check made payable to the Business & Law Society for $15 in Jasna Brblic's (3L) mailbox.
