EVENTS & LECTURES
RACIAL PROFILING: EXAMINING THE WEN HO LEE CASE
The Asian Culture Center is hosting a monthly, informal forum on Asian and Asian American issues, ideas, and experiences. The month the topic is "Racial Profiling: Examining the Wen Ho Lee Case." Professor Jeannine Bell will moderate the discussion on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Asian Culture Center.
Dr. Wen Ho Lee, a 60-year-old, Chinese American nuclear physicist, was arrested for mishandling classified information while working at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Although no evidence was found that directly linked Dr. Lee to the charges made against him, he was held in solitary confinement in a federal prison, without bail, for several months. To learn more about the case, please come and listen and contribute to the discussion.
CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE: NEW RESEARCH & IMPLICATIONS FOR TREATMENT PRESENTATION FRIDAY
Jessica Hersch, Assistant Director of the Child Advocacy Clinic, will present "Child Sexual Abuse: New Research and Implications for Treatment" for the Center for Behavioral Health Breakfast Learning Series on Friday, Sept. 22 at 8:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 219 E, 4th Street. The workshop is free and CEU credits are available. (A fee will be charged for CEU I credit processing)
MOOT COURT LECTURE SERIES
In order to get your Moot Court competition off to a good start, this year's Moot Court Board has scheduled the following series of lectures:
Matthew R. Gutwein, Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the Moot Court Room.
Indiana Court of Appeals Oral Argument, Monday, Oct. 2, at Noon in the Moot Court Room.
Professor Steve Johnson, Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. in the Moot Court Room.
These lectures will be informative and will provide those in attendance with helpful advice and tips on the nuances of appellate advocacy. Matthew Gutwein and Professor Johnson are always entertaining, each offering a unique and insightful discussion. The Indiana Court of Appeals oral argument will give you the unusual opportunity to see the "real thing"
before doing your own oral arguments. No matter how much you prepare yourself on WHAT to expect, it is equally valuable to see HOW the arguments proceed.
The lecturers are kind enough to take time out of their incredibly busy schedules to share their knowledge in the field of appellate advocacy. The series offers a golden opportunity to ask questions and seek advice from experts in the field of appellate advocacy. Please plan on attending as many of the lectures as you possibly can you will be glad you did.
For additional information on the lectures, check the Moot Court bulletin board next to the Moot Court Office. More reminders and additional Moot Court announcements will be coming soon in the ILA.

NEWS FROM THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE
TOUR GUIDE PROGRAM
The Office of Admissions is seeking volunteers for the Tour Guide Program.
Each year, the Office of Admissions coordinates several tours for prospective students. Whenever possible, we like to arrange the tours with law students who have a similar background, such as originating from the same geographic area, attending the same university during their undergraduate study, or perhaps sharing the same interest in a specific area of law.
Prospective and current applicants enjoy talking to law students and getting their perspective on law school and the admissions process. Often, they would also like to sit in on a class for the "law school atmosphere." Tours are not long, generally 10-15 minutes, plus class time, if the person visiting wishes to sit in on a class. Anyone interested in volunteering should stop by the Admissions Office, Room 230.
