FORMER HEAD OF NLRB GIVES FUCHS LECTURE TUESDAY
William B. Gould IV, former Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board, will present the 1999 Ralph F. Fuchs Lecture at the Law School on Tuesday, March 9. All students and faculty are invited to attend. Gould will speak on the topic "Labor Law and Politics at the Labor Board: Ruminations of a Former Chairman" at noon in the Moot Court Room (Room 123).
Gould was named to Ebony magazine's 100+ Most Influential Black Americans list for 1992, 1997, and 1998. He is a graduate of the Cornell Law School and has been Professor of Law at Stanford since 1972. Gould was nominated by President Clinton as Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board in June 1993 and was sworn into office on March 7, 1994. He served in this post until August 27, 1998. Prior to joining Stanford in 1972, Gould was Assistant General Counsel of the United Auto Workers in Detroit; attorney for the NLRB in Washington, DC; represented management in labor law firm matters with Battle, Fowler, Stokes & Kheel in New York City; professor of law at Wayne State Law School; and visiting professor at Howard Law School in Washington, DC.
EVENTS & LECTURES
COLLOQUIUM ON RELIGION AND PERSONAL LAW IN MODERN INDIA
IU LAW AND INDIA STUDIES CO-SPONSOR COLLOQUIUM
The India Studies Program and the School of Law will co-sponsor the Colloquium on Religion and Personal Law in Modern India on March 26 and 27. The colloquium is divided into three major topics: Gender and Women's Issues; Comparative Perspectives on Personal Law; and Hindu and Muslim Perspectives on Personal Law and a Uniform Civil Code. The colloquium will be held in the Moot Court Room both days and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Professor William Popkin is co-chairing the program with Gerald Larson of India Studies. The program is open to the Law School community and the public at large.
NEWS FROM THE RECORDER'S OFFICE
REGISTRATION DATES FOR SUMMER AND FALL
Registration for both Summer and Fall for law courses will take place as usual in the Law School Recorder's Office (room 022).
(If you wish to take courses outside the law school, prior approval from Dean Fromm is required and then our Recorder will give instructions as to how to register for those approved courses.)
Summer Registration will take place on Wednesday or Thursday, March 24 or 25 (your choice). The final Summer Schedule, with detailed information on the Financial Aids Process, will be placed in mail slots on Tuesday, March 9.
Fall Registration will take place on Monday, April 5, for current 2Ls, and Wednesday, April 7, for current 1Ls and current LLM/MCL students.
Updated grid schedules for the fall and spring for next year have been placed in your mail slot. Course description packets for fall courses will be placed in your mail slot by Wednesday of this week.
Additional registration information for the Fall Semester will be available immediately after Spring Break. Included in this material will be tentative schedules for the following year of 2000-2001.

LOANS FOR SUMMER AND NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR
Everyone should have returned their FAFSA forms for next year. If you have missed the preferred target date for the timely reception of loans for the summer and fall, then please return the renewal form immediately or fill out a new one, available in room 024.
If you might be interested in Summer loans, you also will now need to fill out the FAC (Financial Aid Certification) form. This form is not available in hard copy - and should be filled out on the web. The address is http://insite.indiana.edu.
LONDON SPRING 2000 PROGRAM PARIS AND ESADE 1999-2000 PROGRAMS
It is now time to apply if you are interested in attending one of our above international programs in London, Paris, or Barcelona.
Fluency in French and Spanish is required for the latter two.
More information on these programs and the application process for each will be in your mail slots within the next few days.

OUTLAW
LAW PROFESSORS AND STUDENTS FIGHT SOLOMON AMENDMENT
Join Dean Robel and OutLaw in the nationwide letter writing campaign to fight the coercive effects of the Solomon Amendment. The Solomon Amendment forces schools to choose between their own nondiscrimination policy and Federal aid. Tables will be set up in the Law School Lobby from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 8, and Tuesday, March 9. Come join the effort of urging our Representatives to repeal the Solomon Amendment.

MEETING ON MONDAY, MARCH 8
Our meeting has been rescheduled from our usual Tuesday time because our advisor, Professor Dau-Schmidt, will be giving a talk on Labor Law on Tuesday. All PILF members should plan to attend
At Monday's meeting PILF will be doing a "Meet & Greet" for members to get to know each other and their interests and provide a starting point for what members want out of PILF in the future. The highlight of this discussion will be FREE PIZZA.
Christine Rodden from Career Services will also speak at the meeting, giving PILF members insider tips on a public interest job search.
We will also discuss upcoming activities plus plans for the future, so all PILF members should plan on attending.

The Sherman Minton Moot Court Board congratulates Meggan L. Frye, Angela R. Karras, Sandra Perry, and Paul L. Smith, the four finalists in this year's Moot Court Competition. The winners of the 1998-1999 Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition are Meggan L. Frye and Paul L. Smith. The Moot Court Board should like to thank all 128 students who participated in this year's competition.

7TH CIRCUIT SPRING CONFERENCE
The 7th Circuit ABA/LSD Spring Conference will take place in Indianapolis March 12-14 at the Radisson Hotel City Centre.
The spring meeting is one of the most important 7th Circuit gatherings, because we will be electing our new Circuit Governor. Anyone interested in attending the meeting should contact Magdalena Przytulska (2L) at mprzytul@indiana.edu or 339-4703.
ATTENTION: ALL STUART 2Ls & 3Ls
Professor Stuart invites former students to sign up in room 265 to be 1L oral argument judges. Experience in Moot Court competition is preferred. Arguments start March 25 and continue through April 1. She will distribute appellate briefs and bench briefs as soon as the schedule is set, after March 12. She will also put the record on reserve in the library.
