COURT-MARTIAL OF GEORGE ARMSTRONG CUSTER ON C-SPAN

NEWS FROM THE DEAN
Dean Aman participated in an international conference in Liege, Belgium. The topic was: "Deregulation in Europe, the United States and Japan." Dean Aman's paper focused on deregulation in the airline, telecommunications, and energy industries in the United States.
Dean Aman's article, "The Globalizing State: A Future Oriented Perspective on the Public-Private Distinction, Federalism and Democracy," was published this past month in the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law.
In December, Dean Aman will be presenting a paper at the Harvard Law School on "Globalization and American Legal Education."
NEWS FROM THE FACULTY
Professor Kenneth Dau-Schmidt has been appointed to a new professorship for the school--the Willard Z. and Margaret C. Carr Professorship in Labor and Employment Law. The appointment was announced at the Board of Visitors' meeting on November 13 by Dean Aman and is awarded in recognition of Professor Dau-Schmidt's outstanding work in teaching and research related to labor and employment law.
Professor Dau-Schmidt also presented his work on a bargaining analysis of American labor law to the Labor Round Table at the University of Pennsylvania on November 6, 1998. The Labor Round Table consists of academics, practitioners, and administrators in labor law from around the country, and the audience for Professor Dau-Schmidt's presentation included the General Counsel and all current members of the National Labor Relations Board.
Professor Sophia Goodman was a presenter at a continuing legal education seminar in Indianapolis on November 17 on the topic of sexual harassment.
NEWS FROM CAREER SERVICES
ISBA MINORITY CLERKSHIP PROGRAM
Student registration materials are now available for the Indiana State Bar Association's Minority Clerkship Program for the Summer of 1999. This program creates opportunities for first-and second-year law students to clerk with employers throughout the State of Indiana during the Summer of 1999. Twenty-three employers are participating in this year's program. Applications are due to the CSO by noon December 7, 1998.

CHRISTIAN LEGAL SOCIETY THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
Christian Legal Society is sponsoring a Thanksgiving food drive for Community Kitchen. We will be collecting food from now through November 24. Please place food items in the marked containers on the ground floor of the Law School.
STUDENT LAW ASSOCIATION BOOKSTORE NEWS
Beginning November 30, all out-of-date textbooks MUST be picked up at the SLA Bookstore. The bookstore will be open daily during lunch hours (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) beginning November 30. If students have submitted texts that they believe to be out of date, they should stop in the store and look through the books ON THE TABLE.
On Thursday, December 3, these books will be placed in the hallway in front of the bookstore. The books may then be taken, by anyone, free of charge on Thursday and Friday (December 3 and 4). Student Law Association will then recycle any textbooks that are left. Once again, this applies only to old edition textbooks. Thank you for your cooperation.
