Public and Environmental Affairs
Message from the Deans
Welcome to the joint degree program between the IU Maurer School of Law and the IU O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
The two degrees offered, JD/MPA and JD/MSES, enable you to focus on environmental and policy courses, benefit from the outstanding faculty at both schools, and complete both degrees in four years. You can specialize in several interdisciplinary areas, such as applied ecology, environmental chemistry, water resources, policy analysis, and public management. Joint degree graduates have gone on to work for state and federal governments, law firms, nongovernmental organizations, and private sector businesses.
The degrees combine the strengths of a top-ranked environmental policy program and a major area of focus for the law school. Students in the program tell us they get more out of their classes because they learn to understand environmental problems from a wider variety of perspectives. They leave the program with greater skills to help clients and organizations. Whether advocates or analysts, alumni of the joint degree program enjoy rewarding careers at the cutting edge of their fields.
We invite you to learn more about the Law/SPEA joint degrees on the following pages, and contact us with any questions.
