Biography
As Government Information Librarian, Jennifer Bryan Morgan provides research assistance in U.S. government information, legislative history, administrative law, and historical legal materials and directs the Law Library’s participation in the Federal Depository Library Program. Morgan joined the Law Library in 1994 and has served in this role since 2001.
At the Maurer School of Law, Morgan teaches Advanced Legal Research: Federal Legislative and Regulatory Research and co-teaches the research and writing component of the Washington, D.C. Semester Program. She also provides course-integrated instruction on legislative history, government information, administrative law research, and other specialized legal research topics. As an Adjunct Associate Professor of Information and Library Science in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, she teaches a graduate course on government information. She previously taught government information courses through the University of Washington Information School and Drexel University’s College of Computing and Informatics.
Morgan served on the U.S. Government Publishing Office’s Depository Library Council from 2020 to 2023 and later on GPO’s Task Force on a Digital Federal Depository Library Program. Her professional service includes work with the American Association of Law Libraries, the Depository Library Council, and INDIGO, Indiana’s statewide government information organization. She is also serving as guest editor of a special issue of Cataloging & Classification Quarterly devoted to government information.
Her research interests include legislative and regulatory history, the preservation and accessibility of government information, and government transparency.
