Biography
Carole Silver joined the Indiana Law faculty in 2010 after serving as visiting professor of law and executive director of the Center for the Study of the Legal Profession at Georgetown Law Center. Previously, she was on the faculty of Northwestern University Law School.
She teaches courses on the legal profession, globalization and business organizations. In the past, she also has taught securities regulation, international securities regulation and comparative corporate governance, and conflict of laws, among other courses.
Silver's research investigates the influence of globalization on the work and structure of law firms, on legal education and on regulation of the profession; she also is exploring the role of gender in global law practice and the necessary ingredients for educating lawyers to work in a global environment. She is the director of the Law School Survey of Student Engagement, which tracks and analyzes the educational experiences of law students at law schools in the United States and Canada and offers schools a mechanism for considering how their students' learning experiences compare to those of students at other law schools.
