Outlaw is the alliance of students working to promote equal rights and protect against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender. International Law Society Call Out Meeting
The International Law Society will hold its general call out meeting for all law students (JD, LLM, MCL, PhD, and SJD) interested in learning about international law, international human rights, international business, and global career opportunities. Come meet the executive board and hear about our goals for the year, while enjoying tasty, non-pizza ethnic cuisine.
ILS is a great way to meet other students from diverse backgrounds and build multicultural relationships. We offer opportunities to hear from faculty and international speakers, attend cultural and social events, be elected to the executive board, get involved in a leadership committee, practice language skills, and engage in opportunities abroad including international internships. We will begin collecting dues at the meeting, which are only $10 for the year. Room 122, noon.
Middle Eastern Law Student Association Call Out Meeting

Constitution Day Lecture: Geoffrey R. Stone, University of Chicago
Geoffrey R. Stone, the Edward H. Levi Distinguished Service Professor of Law at the University of Chicago, will deliver this year's Constitution Day lecture, titled "Inside the NSA: Liberty and Security in a Changing World." In the fall of 2013, Prof. Stone served on a five-member review group appointed by President Barack Obama and charged with making recommendations on the National Security Administration's foreign surveillance intelligence programs. In his lecture, Prof. Stone will discuss his experience on the review group; the review group's recommendations on several of the NSA's most controversial programs; his evaluation of the oversight processes and mechanisms currently in place; and how we might think about the legitimacy of Edward Snowden's disclosures of classified information. Faculty News
On September 9, Professor Fischman testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Natural Resources at a hearing to consider six bills amending the Endangered Species Act. The Committee's web site links to a video of the hearing and also to Prof. Fischman's written statement.

Stewart Fellows Externship Program Applications
The Stewart Fellows Overseas Externship Program is now accepting applications from 1Ls and 2Ls for summer 2015 in Thailand at Tilleke & Gibbins Law Firm. Information about the externship opportunity and application process is posted on Indiana Law CareerNet. Interested students should contact Ms. Lara Gose (lgose@indiana.edu) in the Office of International Programs (Law 220) with questions. The Stewart Fellows program offers externships in several other countries, and an information session on the Stewart Fellows program will take place later in the fall semester - watch the ILA for details. The application period for other Stewart Fellows externships will open in December.
Human Rights in Saudi Arabia: An Expendable Luxury or a Vital US National Interest?
MELSA is excited to invite you to a panel discussion on human rights in Saudi Arabia featuring Karen Elliott House, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and retired publisher of The Wall Street Journal; Lee Hamilton, director of the Center on Congress at IU; and Eric Goldstein, deputy director of Human Rights Watch's Middle East and North Africa division. Conflict Resolution Training: Community Mediation and Restorative Justice
The Community Justice and Mediation Center (CJAM) offers a 48-hour training program for community members interested in learning about conflict resolution, mediation, and restorative justice. Participants will enhance their interpersonal skills in communication and listening, problem solving, and negotiation, and they will increase their understanding of restorative justice philosophy and methods, the sources of conflict, and the processes leading to constructive conflict resolution. The training should benefit any community member concerned with managing conflict and its resolution. The training provides the background and skills necessary to work as a community mediator and restorative justice practitioner and qualifies participants to volunteer in CJAM's programs.
The fall training will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. over six weekend days, September 13-14, 20, 27, and October 4-5 at the IU Maurer School of Law. The training will be led by senior mediators and restorative justice practitioners. Tuition is $300. Scholarships are available. You will receive confirmation that your room has been reserved after your request has been processed. When filling out your event description, please provide all information possible, especially if you are requesting that the event be publicized.

Indiana Law Annotated is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. Entries may be edited to ensure consistent presentation. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) via the Plan a Meeting feature of the website. If you have questions about an item appearing in the ILA, please contact Ken Turchi (kturchi@indiana.edu; phone 856-4044). Indiana Law Annotated is archived online.
