LELS Collective Bargaining Panel
A distinguished panel of speakers from state government and the union movement, along with representatives from the law firm Macey Swanson and Allman, will discuss state collective bargaining issues. Room 124, noon.

As part of the SustainIU Lecture Series, the Environmental Law Society (in conjunction with the Student Sustainability Council) will be hosting a lecture by Professor Wilk from the IU Dept. of Anthropology. The lecture is tied to this year's SustainIU theme: "Waste(D)." Room 121, 7-8:30 p.m.

The John E. Schiller Chair will be inaugurated with a lecture by Prof. Hannah Buxbaum, Executive Associate Dean and John E. Schiller Chair in Legal Ethics. The lecture is titled "Class Actions in the Global Economy." Moot Court Room, 4:00. Reception following.
SustainIU Lecture Series: Waste-to-Energy
John Waffenschmidt, Covanta vice president of environmental science and community affairs and certified ecologist will speak on the science and technology behind Covanta's waste-to-energy operations and discuss the challenges and opportunities of private corporations looking to profit from socially and environmentally responsible business practices. This is event is part of the 2011 SustainIU Lecture Series and ties to this year's theme: "Waste(D)." Room 121, 7-8 p.m.

Symposium on Judicial Selection
The final Law and Society program of the semester is a symposium on judicial selection, presented in an interactive, Fred Friendly style format moderated by Prof. Charles Geyh. The panel consists of Chris Bonneau, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh and co-author of In Defense of Judicial Elections; Roy A. Schotland, a Professor Emeritus at Georgetown University Law Center who has written prolifically on all methods of judicial selection; and Eileen Braman, Associate Professor of Political Science at IU, whose work has explored issues relating to institutional legitimacy and public support of the courts. It should be a lively discussion. Moot Court Room, 4-6 p.m.

Please join the Business and Law Society and the Kelley Association of Women MBAs for a Women in Business Night, a formal evening with students, alumni and faculty including keynote speaker Valerie Grubb, entrepreneur and former vice president. of NBC Universal and Oxygen Network and a panel discussion regarding issues facing women in the business world. SustainIU Lecture Series: Sustainable Waste Management in Bloomington
The Environmental Law Society (in coordination with the Student Sustainability Council) will be sponsoring a panel discussion with Steve Akers (IU Residential Programs and Services) and Jacqui Bauer (City of Bloomington Sustainability Coordinator). The panel will discuss the various mechanisms that have been adopted by Indiana University and the City of Bloomington to help address issues on waste disposal. This panel discussion is part of the SustainIU Lecture Series and follows the 2011 theme: "Waste(D)." Room 121, 6-7 p.m.

ISBA Solo and Small Firm Conference Scholarships
The Indiana State Bar Association General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section is working with OCPD to promote the annual Solo and Small Firm Conference. This year the law school has scholarships available to send students to the conference on June 2-4 at the French Lick Hotel and Conference Center. Details are available in OCPD.
Admissions Summer Assistants Needed
The Admissions Office seeks to hire multiple first- or second-year law students to work as admissions assistants. These students will help guide members of the class of 2014 through the process of moving to Bloomington, settling in, and preparing to begin class in either July or August. Duties will primarily involve calling and e-mailing students to assist Admissions track the class and to answer questions and provide encouragement for the incoming students. Hours are flexible. The position will be available on a part-time basis ($10/hr). Approximately 50-60 hours per assistant will be required during the summer until the beginning of fall classes. Assistants are not required to be in Bloomington all summer. Please submit a resume and letter of interest to Director of Recruitment Dani Weatherford (maweathe@indiana.edu) before April 20.

You will receive confirmation that your room has been reserved after your request has been processed. When filling out your event description, please provide all information possible, especially if you are requesting that the event be publicized.

Indiana Law Annotated (ILA) is published every Monday while school is in session with news about the coming week. Submit information and articles for ILA to ila@indiana.edu by Thursday at noon for inclusion in Monday's edition. Length of submission is limited to 150 words, unless otherwise approved. If you're requesting a room, submit all information (including the room request) via the Plan a Meeting feature of the website. If you have questions about an item appearing in the ILA, please contact Ken Turchi (kturchi@indiana.edu; phone 856-4044). Indiana Law Annotated is archived online.
