The Black Law Students Association seeks to enhance the social and academic experience of Black students at Maurer. BLSA provides members with support through mentoring, programming, and community social events. Our organization is dedicated to the well-being of our members, promoting community, and participating in community service and social action issues. We seek to make the Maurer community better and promote diversity within the legal profession.
BLSA also hosts two of Indiana Law's most popular events: the Rapheal M. Prevot, Jr. Barrister’s Ball, a black-tie event recognizing distinguished alumni and exceptional members of the law school, and the Gong Show, a talent show where students get a chance to show off of their non-legal talents.
In 2021, the school's BLSA chapter was named Midwest Region Chapter of the Year, a distinction awarded frequently over the past several years.
