Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff.

In view of Governor Holcomb’s executive order, all Law School buildings, including Baier Hall, will be closed until further notice beginning at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, March 27. If you have essential items that you need to retrieve, please take advantage of the next 24 hours to retrieve them. If they are not essential, please leave them in the building: The governor’s order requires that you stay at home.

If it is necessary to visit the Law School one last time, please use the north entrance near Bryan Hall, and be sure to bring your Crimson Card to show to the police cadet upon admittance. (Only a small number of on-campus essential staff remain in the building. Faculty may enter the building if they require access to their offices to teach, but only if absolutely necessary.) The governor’s order requires all students, staff, and faculty to remain at home unless essential to do otherwise. In case of a building-related emergency, please contact lawdean@indiana.edu or call (812) 855-5116.

The university has set up “lot hot spots” in several locations, including the orange parking lot between Memorial Stadium and Assembly Hall. You will be able to access Wi-Fi there via IU secure and eduroam. Other lot hot spots are available in Indianapolis, Richmond, Kokomo, Gary, South Bend, New Albany, and Columbus at the respective IU regional campuses. More information about the lot hot spots is available in this news release.

I realize that closing the building will impose additional inconvenience, but I trust that you understand that it is necessary during these challenging times. Please continue to observe social distancing practices, and above all, stay well.

Best,
Austen Parrish
