Legal Discourse & Legal Writing for LLM and MCL Students
B530 is taught by L. Farnworth, G. Goodwin
This introduction to legal writing and research is a required course for international students in the fall semester and is designed to meet the specific pedagogical needs of non-native speakers who received their legal education abroad. The goal of the course is to provide students with a foundation that will support and enhance learning in other law school courses and to prepare them to write solid examinations by the end of the semester. Students develop skill in predictive writing, calculating the probable legal result of the assigned problems. Each writing assignment builds on the preceding one in both complexity and length, but each provides students an opportunity to hone their skills in organization, paragraphing and writing mechanics. Basic researching skills are also introduced in this course.
