Using Our RSS News and Podcast Feed
"Really Simple Syndication" is a lot like having your newspaper delivered to your door. We'll explain.
What is "Really Simple Syndication?"

You've probably seen the orange graphic on many Web pages lately. It might read "RSS," "Feed" or even "XML." Those acronyms all mean that the Web site offers its information as an RSS feed. If you like the site, you can subscribe to and read its feed with a feed reader (or "aggregator").
The job of your feed reader is to deliver the Web you like to your computer by showing you the latest information—news, articles, blogs, music—from your feeds. Read, filter, and sort that information at your convenience.
How Do I Subscribe to Indiana Law's Feed?
If you have a feed reader, click the address of our feed and follow the prompts:

Where Do I Get a Feed Reader?
You've got many choices.
-
Software on Your Computer
You could install a feed reader like FeedDemon on Microsoft Windows or NetNewsWire on your Mac. Then, when you click a feed on a web page (or next to a Web address) your Web browser will use your feed reader to subscribe to the site, much as it opens the right video player when you open a media link.
-
Services on the Web
Personalized "portal" pages on popular Web search sites offer capable feed readers. Use "Add Content" in My Yahoo!, for example, to add our feed to your Yahoo! portal page. Or search for "Indiana Law" in the Google Reader at your personalized Google portal page.
-
Your Web Browser
Today's Web browsers know feeds. Mozilla Firefox (on all operating systems), Microsoft's Internet Explorer 7, Opera, and Apple's Safari on the Mac or on Windows all support feed reading. When you see an image like
or
beside
our address, that's the signal that your browser has detected our feed. Click the image
and follow the browser's instructions.
What About Podcasts?
If we include an audio recording with our news, your feed reader will offer to download that to your computer or a portable device. You can listen to the recording when you want to. Or share the recording. If you use an Apple iPod, you can use iTunes to manage your podcasts on your iPod. On the iTunes Advanced menu, choose Subscribe to Podcasts. You will be asked for a feed address. Copy our feed's address into the window. iTunes will examine our feed, adding any audio recordings it finds to your iTunes library.
