Leandra Lederman is the William W. Oliver Professor of Tax Law and Director of the Tax Program. She was a faculty member at George Mason University School of Law from 1997 until she joined the faculty of the School of Law in 2005. From 1994 to 1997, she was a member of the faculty of Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law. Professor Lederman spent the 2002-2003 academic year at the University of Texas School of Law as a visiting professor. In 2001, she was recognized by George Mason University for excellence in teaching, and in 2005 she received the Law Alumni Association Legal Teaching Award from New York University School of Law.

Professor Lederman received her AB cum laude in 1987, with honors in her major, from Bryn Mawr College. She earned her JD cum laude in 1990 from New York University School of Law, where she was a Note and Comment editor of the New York University Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. In 1993, Professor Lederman earned an LLM in taxation from New York University School of Law, where she was a student editor of the Tax Law Review. She practiced as an associate at the New York office of White & Case from 1990 to 1992 and served as an attorney-advisor (clerk) to Judge David Laro of the United States Tax Court from 1993 to 1994.

At the Law School, Professor Lederman teaches Income Tax, Corporate Tax, and Seminar in Tax Procedure. Her research focuses on income taxation of individuals and corporations, tax compliance, and tax controversies and litigation. She has written a book on corporate taxation, co-authored a casebook on tax procedure, served as general editor of a treatise on tax procedure, and written numerous articles on tax law and policy. Professor Lederman is also active in the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, where she is Chair of the Teaching Taxation Committee and an Associate Editor of the Section's NewsQuarterly.
