We offer a highly ranked Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) and graduate legal programs that are in the top tier of American law schools. Indiana Law has a student body of nearly 700 with students from 200 undergraduate schools in the United States and abroad.

Today’s lawyers are expected to provide civic and political leadership and to devote time to the public interest. The Indiana Law Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) prepares students for legal careers by emphasizing the development of reasoning ability and interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills.

Students also have the opportunity to partake in real-world experiences through clinics, externships, and internships; study abroad; pursue a joint degree; or choose a special area of focus. No matter which JD path you choose at Indiana Law, you and your classmates will have the following shared experiences:

First Year

Students work in small groups under the supervision of a legal research and writing lecturer and law librarian to become familiar with the conventions and requirements of legal research and writing.

Second Year

Students select a regular, substantive course in which to further exercise and sharpen their writing skills in a small-group setting.

Third Year

Students complete a substantial research and writing project.

Indiana Law’s Graduate Legal Studies Program has a global reputation for excellence that is strengthened by a broad curriculum; an accessible, renowned faculty; and a beautiful, historic campus in one of the safest and most scenic areas of the Midwestern United States. The Graduate Legal Studies program is designed primarily for international students and students must have a JD or equivalent to be considered for admission.
