Biography

Laura Fonseca joined the Maurer School of Law as director in the Career Services Office in 2018. Fonseca is passionate about serving students through intentional programing and coaching that assists them in identifying and reaching their individual career objectives. 

Previously, Fonseca oversaw strategic alumni relations and employer engagement for IU’s College of Arts and Sciences’ Walter Center for Career Achievement. In these roles, Fonseca managed all recruitment and employer outreach activity for over 80 majors and programs across industries. She also created and managed programing to connect alumni with students and launched an alumni platform that allows students to connect directly and easily with alumni invested in their career success. 

Fonseca began her career in higher education after six years of recruitment and international development work. She holds a master's in Latin American studies with a focus on intergenerational transfer of poverty and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in higher education. Her research interests center on change management as it pertains to diversity and equity within institutions of higher education.
